Horwich (Middlebrook) doesnt seem to have any since their revamp. If someone can tell me different Id be very pleased to know aobut it. :o
  • A new store opened in my town in November and this store has two in-store scanners. However the scanners have never worked.

So I contacted Tesco to complain.

After an initial positive response from customer services, I got a call today from national customer services to say that they had no plans to repair the scanners as Tesco policy has changed and they are going to de-commission in-store scanners.

Maybe he was talking rubbish, but I thought I'd share this.

Chesterfield needs major updating, as that store is now closed and several more have been built and/or opened!

Here is what Ive found out, (thanks to the OPs on other threads here where ive picked up the information from over the last couple of months)

    Chesterfield Extra - no scanners
Chesterfield (Clay cross) Extra, Three scanners!! (home wear, clothes and cereal isle)
Chesterfield Metro, One scanner in clothes isle
Chesterfield Express Birdholme, no scanner, but does have unsupervised SS!
Chesterfield Express Newbold, no scanner, no SS.

...they dont call us 'Tescofield' for nothing!

Edit.. thanks for doing this thread, its really useful! Can I ask why some are black and others blue, does it show which one shave been updated?

    Pretty much.

Scottish Lass explained it in post #2.

Unfortunatly it must have been too big of a job for her. Still waiting for someone brave, or crazy, enough to take over.

    Ventured out to....

Alfreton two scanners, both switched on, beeping, but not showing prices!
One in homewares, one near tea/crisps (both on metal pillars, which may help you locate them if they are ever mended:()
..Unable to find a scanner near 'speciality' as stated on front page though.

They do have a 'scan as you go' system running, which gives you the price of each item when you scan them as you go round, including a running total, and apparently you can remove items off your running total, so maybe thats a better way to find prices? It also looks very quick when you pay too, which could be a bonus if you have managed to get several 1p items?!:T
  • the scanner in Cheshunt is in the crisps isle now. there is another one where the clothes are but not working>
