The closest OH has got to buying me undies was a pair of PJs a couple of years ago!
Oh, hadn't realised you'd sent me a FB message Cinny!I get notifications on my phone/tablet that I just clear down without checking and missed the fact that I had a message! Oops! Will have a look tonight and reply if the laptop is OK, it kept giving us the blue screen of death over the weekend!
£59 is way too much for a 5ft tree, my parents used to buy 7ft+ trees from a special farm and they never spent more than £40. This garden centre was on the way to Poshtown though so maybe that's why they were taking the p!ss with the prices?! We spent £30 in the end, complete with stand which would have probably cost an extra tenner on top of the super expensive tree! We've got the non-drop type (Nordman Fir) but it still makes a bit of a mess when you're putting it in place and shoving ornaments on it!
Nowhere near as bad as the traditional trees though; I remember Mum having to hoover up needles every day and the tree being bare by the time we took it down! It made a lovely noise whenever you brushed against it and the needles would fall off onto the presents. You couldn't go into the living room without shoes/slippers on for fear of stepping on a needle though! I know it's a silly expense to buy a new tree every year, but I love having a real one; I kept getting lovely whiffs of Christmas tree yesterday and it was brilliant!

Haha Birdie, my parents tree was like the last year. My brother and I would just stand there flicking the branches and watching them become bald. Which is pathetic given that we're in our 20s.
Speaking of which it's my birthday tomorrow, Wednesday is a rubbish day to celebrate on! Particularly as OH works so late so I'll be coming home alone. Nevermind though! Will just celebrate belatedly.
Wahoo go ROTE, that is awe inspiringly amazing!
Rubbish about the date Tete, hope you meet a nice one soon

Happy Birthday Archers! Hope you have a nice day even though Wednesday birthdays do tend to be a bit rubbish!
Christmas jumper is nearly finished, took me all night last night because I'm so slow when it comes to sewing! Should be finished tonight and I can't wait to wear it! OH was worried that I'd go overboard (what, moi?!) but he approves, think he secretly wants one too but I don't have time... and I don't want him stealing my awesome jumper thunder!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Happy Birthday Archers!
Glad you managed to get a tree Birdie , that other one soudns a rediculous price!
Sorry to ehar about the date Tete, maybe he just got scared but not worth bothering with people like that.
We had a light dusting of snow this morning but didn't really lay.
I am very pleased Poppy had learnt to say christmas ...well she said 'ishmas' which i think is close enough!0 -
Happy Birthday Archers! Hope you have a lovely day despite the Wednesday-ness!
I have exciting house news, the agent called on Monday and said the vendors have suggested a completion date of 14th December! We have to give a month's notice on where we are now so might not actually move properly before Christmas, but knowing me I'll be so excited to have the key that we will probably end up camping down there in sleeping bags from the first day! Although the downside is that I was ready to put our Christmas decorations up that evening and now don't know what to do! Also I STILL don't have a new date from the hospital so may end up being in when it all happens! But overall, still yay! I've no idea how I'm expected to work under these conditions...

Wahey, it's starting to feel a lot like Christmas over here with all this talk of festive jumpers and trees and snow!
Gosh, I do love a real tree. This year we've gone green and rented a tree. It was no cheaper than buying one, but it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling that it will go and be planted in a forest to grow big with all the other little trees
Happy birthday Archers! Make the most of your midweek birthday by stretching celebrations all weekend
Big congrats, ROTE, that's fantastic progress! I had a play with my spreadsheet last night and we're on target to clear £7500 in 6 months which I'm pretty chuffed with. I have also come to the conclusion that other people must be LOADED! People we know with similar earnings must have mega savings or be hiding deep dark debts too...
Glad things are going well with your OH, Ruby. Really sweet that he's taking you out to celebrate your engagement anniversary
Dinah, your shop is looking brilliant and it sounds like you're being kept busy! Does Grace let you get any crafting done?!LBM Sep 2008 debt: £27,927.04start weight: 140.2, week 2: 1380 -
Thanks Wendz - think we cross posted as I didn't see your post before, that is so cool about Poppy saying Christmas! And you've had snow! Its cold here in the Midlands but no sign of snow, in fact its very sunny where I am at the moment, it looks deceptively warm but I won't be fooled!Barclaycard [STRIKE]£7,296.35[/STRIKE] £6134.99 - MBNA [STRIKE]£4,182.88[/STRIKE] £3267.08 - O/draft [STRIKE]£569.31[/STRIKE] £413.59 - Capital One [STRIKE]£1477.55[/STRIKE] £1451.44Total debt [STRIKE]£12048.54[/STRIKE] £11267.10 6% paid0

Hi all! Happy Birthday to Archers!
Ooh Poddle congrats on the 5000th post, do you get a prize I wonder??
Well done to ROTE and Poddle on the debt payments - you're right P, makes me wonder where all my money goes, wish I could SAVE that amount in that time!
All sounds very promising Shrimpy, keeping my fingers crossed for you! Hopefully you WILL be in hospital when it all kicks off a) so you don't have to do any of the moving, and b) so that you're all done and dusted hospital-wise in time for Christmas!
So cute about Poppy, Christmas is quite a hard word to get your mouth round! I'm another one excited to see this jumper of Birdie's! Definitely on my to do list for next year, too much present making to do this year, I'm having a panic!
I was reading through earlier and thought you were all being very generous to non-date-boy, saying how it's scary to meet up etc - I was thinking more that he was just an @rse, then lo and behold I gets a message from him wanting to meet up this weekend he really wants to make it up to me apparently [IMG]http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/<a href=http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys.php target=_blank>[/img]Well unfortunately for him I'm busy ALL weekend. Ha.
