I would just like to say. I bought those boots  They're coming out for their 3rd winter running. I also got a telling off for buying £10 shampoo one time. I think that's why I see Dinah as my stern older Zus!
I do agree with TPA though Dinah, it's actually something I've tried to say before but couldn't find the right words. (Bar the envious of me part, I don't see why anyone would ever be even slightly envious of my life!) I hope you're not upset by what TPA said or me agreeing, there's no doubts she only said it with kindness, like any of us would.0 -

Hows everyone elses monday? This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
I can't keep off the thread today, it's moving so fast and I've not much else to do!
The only thing I feel I'm able to add to what TPA said at all is that while holidays are amazing (& I'm absolute holiday junkie, you should have seen how quickly I was mental allcoating money around when my friends suggested a ski trip the other day...) they often aren't as great as the anticipation.
While it's great to have something to look forward to you still want the time away to be nice and there's often so many outside influences that affect that. Like your brothers ex being a total pain on your family trip, an getting ill in New York, and Dinahs girl trip wasn't a total sucess if i remember right. Sorry if I've got any of that wrong btw.
I know you're not going to come back from a holiday and tell us everything was perfect and life is 100% fab etc, but I just wonder if it's worth thinking about the downsides of travel, as well as the money part of it, maybe as some kind of deterant!
Only you know what your priorities are though when it comes to spending and cutting back, but holidays are always going to cost more than a pair of boots or whatever. And if you can crack on with the debt busting then you could be planning them again in a years time which would be worth the sacrifice I think! Hope you don't think I'm being a busy body

Maybe you could aim to have a holiday after all the debt is paid off and can start trying for a family too then.
Talking of family Flower has been very quiet, hope this means her little one is here!0 -
Just out of curiosity, how much did New York set you back? I know a lot was paid for with vouchers, just wondering really if it has added to the debt?
On the subject of boots, I really wanted to get gold glittery Uggs when we were away but sadly I had spent up on other things. And... where the heck would I wear glittery Uggs?! Was funny seeing how many girls had brand new Uggs on at the airport though, they're so much cheaper over there!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Ohh glittery uggs! Although i agree that i am not sure where you would wear them hehe.0

I'm going to be harsh with you! I know you will appreciate it eventually, although you will hate me to begin with, do you remember being harsh with Cinny when she wanted to buy some expensive boots???
You don't need all those expensive holidays, please don't try to justify them with 'we get them with clubcard points etc' as when you break it down you have to buy extra things to get the points. Also as much as you try not to spend much when you are actually on holiday, it adds up. I know you say you 'need' your holidays, but is that need greater than the need to get out of debt, the stress that goes with it and putting starting a family on hold??
Some of those interest rates are rediculously high, you MUST tackle these first, your debt is not around the £30k you say but actually a lot higher if you work out how much you owe plus all the interest it is going to cost you.
Why do your family have debts in your name (on your CCs) this must be cleared and stopped!
Why is NIM giving you the jewellry from the MSs, I know it is nice but you cannot aford it at the moment, ebay them, it will save you loads of money in the long run.
Reading your posts you have come across as envious of Cinny, in the real world you would just be excited for her. This is what I worry about, I think the debt is making you depressed and making you look at things in a different manner.
You said you needed to get married quickly as you had to start a family soon because of your medical problems..this appeared to have changed, you have gotten in so much debt this major part of your life has had to go on hold.
You have over spent on holidays, the wedding and your house. Now is the time to rein things in. I know you and NIM can do this, you are an amazing devoted couple, don't let the debt drag you down.
Telling off over, I hope I haven't upset you too much, i'm just so frustrated for you, you did such an amazing job of getting out of debt before I cannot believe things have got this bad.
Hurry up, I want you over on the MFW board!
TPAxx
TPA, I think what you've said is fair by and large but it seems VERY focused on D and it kind of reads like I'm some Martyr who pts up with it all, trust me I'm probably more guilty than D of causing these to rack up. I've never been great with money and give it away / spend it all too quickly. I could go into a big rant on the whos whys and wherefores of the situation but it'd read quite like a "show me pity" post which I don't want.
In short, good comments but too focused on D and no real comments about my behaviour. Can you, or anyone else, see anything "I" should/shouldn't be doing? This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0 -
I don't think TPA meant it like that NIM, she's just addressed Dinah as it's Dinah's thread ... am I right?
TPA I agree with everything there I think and I'm sure it's stuff they both already know, but yeah sometimes it can help to have a kick up the bum from someone else.
As for the glittery uggs, I didn't think they could get worse but they have!! Although the fleecy flip flops really took the biscuit!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0
