Glad to hear your nan's ok Tete, hope she gets over the shingles quickly.
Aww that sucks Dinah. I have a massive to do list that I can't really touch till I get home.
Had a busy morning for once! And a bit of a scary one too. Had a missed call from a number that I automatically thought was my mum's work. The only time she's called me from there was to tell me my dad had collapsed, so automatically started thinking the worst. Phoned them back and it turned out it was my nan's carer. Again started thinking the worst. Turns out she just didn't want to get out of bed this morning because she was tired and the carer phoned me because it was the only mobile number that the agency had. The woman is 80, with dementia. If she want's to stay in bed then let her stay in bed!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Ruby the agency would have to ring about something like that. As petty as it may seem. If they are being paid to go in and get your nan up then they have to cover themselves if they don't do what they are supposed to do. It's a blooming minefield these days. Social services will look for any reason to cut funding (ie they say she didn't get up til 11 so from now on they will only fund from 11 etc) plus some families are quick to complain (you are obviously not one of them as per your comment above)
I know it seems petty but after incidents like that care home on panorama as well they have to cover themselves.
Tete I will have a look at my patterns later. Would much rather they go to someone I "know"
Dinah I hope there is "lots of cuddles with Grace" on your to do list todayGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
That is rubbish Dinah. Must admit one thing i like being back at work is that i get to sit still and drink tea. No chance of that at home!
That must have been a bit of a scare Ruby, glad alls ok.
The primark was actually really good. Got a new cardy for me as mine are all looking a bit tired and some new bits for Poppy - Jeggings, leggings and tops. Didn't even have to queue which i was shocked at.0 -

I was thinking the same - I can imagine family being angry if the carer didn't make the lady get out of bed: "They just left her in bed, what are they getting paid for??!!" So much blame culture around leads to silly things like this - no-one dares do anything.
Ah thanks Star, you're a, er, Star!
I never ever find anything nice in Primark and yet I see loads of lovely items on blogs/friends and so on
I'm taking advantage of my boss swanning off to update my day zero list - as a few people were saying the other day there's a few things that don't seem that relevant or achievable anymore. I've not 'cheated' by adding stuff I know I'm definitely doing, eg. 'see a play off Broadway' so it's still a bit of a challenge. Still only done about 17% of the things though, and only 467 days to go! :eek:Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I love my 'local' Primark, it quite posh for a Primark so it's not the sould destroying experience it can be in other places!
I need to get some new cardies and warm winter dresses for work since it's getting cold now! I also have to stop being a tightwad and buy some sensible work shoes as my current ones (which are silver, so not very sensible really!
) have properly sprung a leak now and it's only a matter of time before they die.
Le sigh. I've had 4 years solid wear out of them though so I guess I can't complain too much!
Hope you get to tick off lots of things on your Day Zero list in NYC Tete! How long until you go?! :j
Payday today so feeling briefly well-off. Quite pleased that we had over £400 left in our joint account at the end of the month without really trying too hard to save it so that's being withdrawn for holiday spends. And I've been paid £120 extra this month from overtime, whoop!

I'm glad that they called someone, but I don't know how they got my number to call me. My mum is confused as well because they have all my mum's and her sisters contact details including mobile numbers and they've never even given them my mobile number. It's pretty pointless as I'm living 2 hours away!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

Hope you can manage to get some more things done off your list Tete, New York should be a good opportunity.
Yay for payday Birdie. Impressed you managed to keep your shoes going for 4 years. I always seem to kill shoes so quickly.
That is strange Ruby - wonder why they had your number.0 -
I have spent most of my space time (mainly mins here and there) to do some moving and shaking. I have updated my snowball and will phone about a balance transfer later when I get home.
I am looking at cut the food budget which is about 350 per month for seven of us. We now have a little blue person to go with the little pink person but he's still on milk at the moment, so no cost there yet.Total debt Feb 2012 = £54354.11 😳

Congratulations on little blue person ROTE, how old is he? We're about to start our pink person on solids in the next week or two, which seems ridiculous to look at her as she's only 8lb 10oz, but she's six months old and very clearly ready for it. Anything she can get her hands on is now going in the mouth, today she merrily sucked on my arm for 10 mins having had a good old gum of her godmother's cardigan. She's also very very interested in what we eat, and hates bottles, so hopefully solids might make her chunk up a bit. At the rate she's gone at she'll be about 13-14lbs when I go back to work, which is a bit of a titch.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Congratulations ROTE!
And nice to see you back!!
Wendz, when did the new primark open? I'm in a bit of a flump with some of my wardrobe at the moment and could probably do with a few new bits to make it ready for winter! I do want to invest in some proper nice boots this year though.. i just find them hard to find! Maybe I'm too picky.. Dinah you're good with shoes.. seen any nice ones/any tips for shopping for boots? I want something wearable with a reasonable heel in brown leather (I think this is what I want!) Love the bits you got the other day with your mum
Tete - go for it with the dress! If you can't find a pattern thats right either, have you thought about making your own pattern? You can base this off a standard block (should be able to find how to make one online) which you can customise, or use a dress you already have or there's loads of tutorials for things people have put online. I think I've said it before but https://www.craftster.org has loads of creative people, maybe have a look in the clothing section? I wish I still had the time and space and inclination to make stuffstarted making a quilt ages ago (Its something I've aways wanted to do!) but left all the bits at home and I dont have a sewing machine! Tiny london flats are not helpful when you want to craft!
Whats on your massive to do list then Dinah? anything we need to encourage you to do? I second that I hope theres lots of grace face time on there! She's such a cute baby
Cinny do you still have the pashley? I'm still not sure about getting a bike, i probably started thinking about it at the wrong time of year as the evenings start to get darker etc...! Maybe next spring..?
Well done for still having money in your account at payday Birdie! Especially without even trying (but some of it is probably subconcious as you said a while ago that you wanted to cut down!) our money is all over the place at the moment because our bills for the new place haven't really been sorted out and we haven't paid any so we have cash spare but we need to keep it on oneside for when the massive bills come in argh! I dont thin this place is as energy efficient either becuase i was feeling the cold yesterday and last year we didnt put the heating on at all because it was so hot all the time I think we had windows open in november! I'm trying a new spreadsheet though to see how much we manage to actually save over time because I've set my banks up a bit complicatedly and its awkward to see how much I've actually saved or if I've actually gone down because I dont really keep the "savings" in a seperate account its all jumbled a bit (partly due to bank rules like you have to pay in £1000/month to keep the account) so it means my savings are just such a mess! Hoping the new spreadsheet will help though.. REALLY want to seriously start deposit thinking.. spoke to an 18 year old the other day who has better money plans than me saving to buy in London in 4 years and they have no student loan to pay back. I dont pay too much towards mine because I dont earn much but the balance is just scarily massive! Does anyone else have a student loan that feels like its going up rather than down?
Sorry about this mamoth post, I do catch up I just can only post sporadically and I tend to ramble on a bit sorry!0
