Tink, best pair of boots I ever got for winter were from Aldi, £12 and they are AWESOME proper snowboots with ankle supports and all sorts. This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.:j:j:j:j0

For something that doesn't look like you're off on a moon landing and won't break the bank I recommend Next. A mid season sale should be coming up soon, so you can get a pair of leather ankle boots for about £25 and they last forever and are really comfy. Even knee boots tend to be under £35. If money isn't so much of a concern Kurt Geiger do some fantastic ones, they also have an outlet online where you can sort by size, so sometimes get an amazing bargain because your size was the only one left and they've reduced it to 80% off to clear it.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

NIM, I have a feeling Tink was more after Kurt Geiger super deals rather than Aldi snow boots!
ETA: LOL, cross posted and sure as eggs is eggs, there's a KG link!
Good to hear from you Tink anyway, sounds like things still need to settle down a little for you! Is your account one that has to have £1000 balance at all times or just specifies that you have to pay in £1000 a month? We have Halifax Reward accounts for personal and joint, it pays £5 a month as long as £1k is paid in, so salary goes into the joint account, then £1k is moved into my personal account and £700 is immediately moved back to the joint! £10 earned for a little bit of fiddling on top of my usual money shuffle anyway! If I was more organised I'd set up another account like that and stick £200 in it and just keep withdrawing it and paying it back in 5 times a month!
It's so strange but exciting that Grace will be on solids soon, hope she likes it and gets lovely and chubby!
Dress down day at work today so I've dug out my Uggs for the first time since 'summer' began and I'd forgotten just how nice they are! My feet are so snug, I can't be miserable today with such cosy toes!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
Tink - it opened yesterday

My student loan definately isn't going anywhen soon. They did take a bit when i got my return to work bonus but i am not paying much a month as i am now only on 4 days and because of the childcare vouchers it means i pay less so i doubt i am paying any off really.
The spreadsheet is a good idea.I use one to keep track of all my money and find it useful.
Congratulations on the new addition ROTe. £350 seems really good for seven to me!0 -
My student loan hasn't gone far this year, but usually they take over £100 a month off me so it must have gone down a bit. It only worries me if I ever go self employed, as it seems a nightmare to pay when self employed.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I think I'm right in saying you have the Uggs I've been coveting for years Birdie - the Kensington ones?
Need to pack for Northumberland this morning as we're at the hospital this afternoon. Really looking forward to our weekend away. It's due to be decent weather too. Forgot to get NIM to chop wood for the fire so I'll need to remember that too.
Looks like granddad's estate has cleared, between my inheritance, a cheque we need to pay in and various money I've loaned mum over the last couple of weeks we'll be £5776.80 better off in the next few days. It's not actually in my bank yet though as mum is the executor and needs to settle the funeral etc, and she's refusing to pay the full amount as the service received was so poor, ie they came and asked her about when she'd collect the ashes and settle the bill while she was stood in a back lane next to the car for grandad and the two drivers/pall bearers were having a smoke and a joke and she was waiting for her dads coffin. It's bad enough she had to wait in a back lane anyway. They lost his framed photograph after the service, and they didn't even check the music she gave them a week in advance so on the day, as we waited outside the chapel, they came running out to say it didn't work and what did we want to do. You're the blinking funeral directors, sort it out!
Wandered off topic there. Anyway. Knowing we have some big bits to shift on ebay I am very tempted to just clear the car loan, and make up the stove shortfall over the next fortnight or so, it'll take longer than that to be chosen and installed anyway.
In a bit of a mood, sold a freeview box on Wed evening for £16, and then it wasn't in the ebay cupboard. Now it has to be here somewhere, but the bloke wanted to pick it up early Thursday and we had to tell him we couldn't find it yet but give us a day or two. Some time yesterday he left negative feedback saying we were a joke - less than 24 hours after the auction end!!! We had 100% positive so I'm really not pleased that he was so impatient.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Yep my sister is self empoyed so has to work it all out each year, sounds like a nightmare.
I only pay £20 a month at the mo. Might take a while to pay it off.
Might have to check out next for some boots!0 -

When self employed you pay it as part of your tax return each year so they calculate what is due them based on your figures.
It gets really hard trying to get a refund back when self employed.0 -
