I slipped over on a cocktail sausage on the dance floor and couldn't get up at one I went to so don't feel too bad :D

I'd just had knee surgery at ours so the first dance was more of a wobble, but NIM used to always dip me when we danced so I was determined we were finishing like that (even though he didn't think it was a good idea) .... cue my shoe slipping, my knee not being able to compensate, and me finishing the first dance flat on my back on the dance floor!

    :rotfl: Ditto!

Gosh, makes my first dance look almost graceful! OH caught my dress and managed to rip the loop that attached my train to my wrist clean off! :p

Sounds like the weddings you went to were fun Ruby! How embarassing, could have been worse though, at least that didn't happen at a family wedding- 'No Auntie Irene, it wasn't me who was sleeping around I swear!' ;)

I once had a wardrobe malfunction and flashed the groom :o They divorced a few months later. I didn't like them anyway, but felt I should have got a refund on the wedding present!

A few months? Eeek, that's a bit poor. Surely you know it's not going to work out and call off the wedding if things are that rocky?

Honestly that girl. They had been together since they were 14, we met them at 6th form and they were already engaged. She always tried to give the rest of us sage relationship and sx advice as though all we wanted was to be like them - real piece of work. She was really annoyed when my best friend ended up getting married the year before them at 22. They got married at 23, cost a fortune, the next I heard (because as you can tell I wasn't keen on her) was when I signed up to facebook about a year later and saw her on there, and she was engaged to someone else!

Same thing happened to a couple of OH's friends. They had 2 kids, decided to get married after the second one and she just left him about 6 months later. Was the worst hen night I've ever been to: the bride, her future MIL and me sitting in their flat drinking wine from mugs, watching Children in Need! None of her friends thought they should have got married so they didn't come to her hen night so she decided to stay home instead. They were quite a nice couple too.

Feel slightly better at hearing all your tales, just makes me wonder what's going to happen at my wedding?

One of our friends was only married 4 months  He'd been with his OH since school... and she started up an affair with her boss about 6 months before the wedding which eventually crashed down around her shortly after the massively expensive big day... leaving her single and unemployed! He seems to be taking it all in his stride, during his best man speech the other week he did say that he didn't really feel qualified to give advice on a long and happy marriage considering the brevity of his! :p

No matter what you plan for Ruby, something else will always pop up as a memorable funny moment that takes you by surprise! At my brothers the talking point was the coked-up magician! He was great, but clearly off his head, must be how he got his magic powers! :rotfl:

Got another evening do in a couple of weeks proably very similar although i dont really know anyone whos going as someone from Ohs work.

As for gifting you all seem really generous i must say should have had you all round to mine....... which was at Graceland in memphis lol with just 4 of us....

But as i won 52 bottles of champagne earlier this year thanks to Mr Branson  i shall once again be gifting a bottle of it as our pressie. - it is worth £35 a bottle when its not on offer.

I too have subscribed to your blog Dinah as i am trying to be better at the shopping and eating, I have pinched your 500 miles to walk from your signature :o and have set my target to do it in 6 months to end of Feb at 3 miles a day or thereabouts. Along with losing 50 lbs :rotfl: and saving £500 for my hols at easter (hopefully from cutting food budget by following your blog) so managed 2.4 miles today. Found a good app for my phone to track my routes so i dont have to work it out, i shall watch your progress with interest.

Ooh what app is it? I have a pedometer which is great when you remember it. And don't take it in the car, it thinks potholes count as steps.

Hopefully the blog will help with weight loss too, NIM and I are both hoping to shift a few pounds when we come back from holiday, and quite a few meals on there are probably going to be meatless which usually means lower in calories unless you're piling on the cheese instead. I've already meal planned the week we return, every day I stick to 1200cals and NIM is at 1800-2000ish given he's male and cycles, so hopefully you might see some recipes to suit you too.

Net wasn't working AGAIN when I woke up, but the good old turn it off and on again, poke it with a bbq skewer, hit it off the wall did the trick.

I was married less than a year, but in my defence I didn't know my stupid exOH (of 10 years standing at that point!) was going to marry me when I was pregnant with DD then beggar off when she was a babe in arms, best thing he ever did for us!! Thankfully we had a very small wedding and didn't spend a fortune, borrowed dress, reception in local lovely restaurant etc.
