Hi Shrimpy, nothing special I'm afraid, wish I had some inspiring words! Pretty much the same as Dinah's approach (although probably not quite as dedicated!), extra money earners all the way.

I work in a pub and have 2 cleaning jobs as well as my main one.

I have found though that I am running out of steam now, I will keep paying it off but now none of it is incurring interest anymore I am not feeling as rushed.

And so much hard work I'm so tired now too! Bit bad as the month in Africa in Nov was supposed to be to a celebration of my debt-freeness and now I may not be :o

You have really well so far though :T, don't give up! :D

Your so close now beccie, don't let the head of steam disappear completely, thats been one of the big mistakes D and I kept making. We got comfortable cause we "only" had 5 grand left to clear so we'd slow down and then it built back up all over again.

Now is the time you really need to push, your close enough to taste victory but you need to push yourself for the final sprint, cause there is no second place. You win or lose.
This was 6 months out of date so I've changed it.

Ooo, I'm a little bit scared now! :rotfl:

It does make sense what you say though. I am not as worried about building it back up as I don't have a CC to my name now and the O/D will be cancelled next month, but there is potential for this last bit to drag along too long I guess.

It's hard work though *stamps foot* I'm down to 70 hour weeks now from my very daft 100 hours, but I still get a little bit kid pouty these days - I wanna be out having fun! :p

I agree so much with both of these sentiments! This is exactly what has happened to me and it's so frustrating. It's good to know I'm not alone at least and we can all cheer each other on. There's a good thread just started up about breaking the debt down into %s, i.e. if you have £4000 left then focus on paying £40 or 1% at a time. It gave me a bit of a fresh take on it and will hopefully help me see the back of it this year once and for all! My original DFD was my 30th birthday, which was Nov 2010. Yikes.

Wow Beccie, you have so much motivation! Couldn't imagine working 3 extra jobs jus to pay off debt. Although saying that, I am trying to find a second job as a research assistant just to keep my foot in the psychological waters. Don't even mind if it's paid or not, although it would be nice. Going off to a Samaritan's selection day next Saturday at my new local branch. Pretty much guranteed to get a post because I was volunteering my old local branch.

Glad to hear Grace is getting stronger with every passing day. Bet the staff are going to miss all your cakes Dinah when you take her home!

Not got much planned for the weekend as OH is playing cricket tomorrow. Might go into town and spend some of my vouchers I got from work when I left.

Another day at work doing NOTHING. Better make the most of it, my "buddy" is back on Monday and will be fobbing all his work off on me!

Hi Ruby - wish I did have motivation! Some days I feel all up for it and others I wonder if motivation is a limited thing and I've used it all up over the last couple of years :o I would love to fly off to Africa DF still so should keep pushing on.

Good luck at the Samaritans day :)

Shrimpy, I joined a % thread a year or so ago whcih eventually died off but I have carried on looking at in percentages since, it does help.

Sorry Dinah, think I'm taking over your thread today :o

Ooooh I really want the rain to stop, OH's tournament will be cancelled so there goes my nice weekend on my own! :( If he's sticking around I'm making him see Rock of Ages with me. He doesn't realise it's a proper musical and I'm not going to tell him! ;)

I can't believe you were working 100 hour weeks Beccie, when did you eat and sleep?!

Come on NIM, not you too! It's lose, not loose! ;)

That reminds me, I had to explain to a colleague yesterday how to differentiate between to and too, the best I could come up with is that if you say it in a Yorkshire accent and drop the o it's only got one i.e. Going t'farm :p That method should totally be taught in schools, might suggest it to my teacher friends! :D
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

    Not very often! :rotfl:

In all seriousness though I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, it makes you feel quite ill in the end. I forced myself to calm down in the end, the debt would be gone but I needed to drop the 'I can do this overnight' attitude.

Absolutely! You've done amazingly well, Beccie :D

I totally empathise with you about being complacent. I was feeling smug that we'd saved up for our wedding and don't have any debt from it, but the stupid thing is we do still have debt! A fair bit of it, but it's all v low interest so we've just accepted it.

A bit of discipline for me is in order, I think :o

Shrimpy, that thread about breaking down debt into chunks sounds useful - what is it? My original DFD was my 30th too *sigh*

Enjoy your last day of (no) work, Ruby :) and enjoy your day off Wendz - glad you're a little bit better.

Weekend plans sounds good, I've got a hen do which I'm sort of looking forward to but I know it's going to be super expensive. Silly London!

Dinah, the hearts idea is lovely - glad NIM's getting involved too! the staff are really going to miss you, but how brill that Grace is making such good progress.

Sorry for radio silence then mammoth posts! I'm trying to be more productive by not being on the internet all day. It's not really working :rotfl: gutted to miss out on all the HP chat too! Gryffindor forevs!

Hi to everyone and everything I've missed!
