Will cross things off the list tomorrow, too tired. Did order our Christmas turkey though (£20 deposit and around another £20 to pay on the day, spreads the cost a bit, and a £5 voucher back and 3% cashback through Quidco) which makes me feel very grown up!

  • Hi Dinah (oh crap and NIM!!:rotfl:)

Have you got any A/L owing to you, I think you earn a similar amount to me......i.e. loads more than my DH. Have you thought about taking off a couple of days to catch up with your lists? I have loads of leave owing and have decided to take one day a week off in November..have promised myself they will be productive days and not days spent cuddling the dogs on the sofa:rotfl:. You are far more motivated than me and I know you would use your time far more wisely than me:o Would take some of the stress off too.

    TPAx

PS so sorry to read about the dog Cinny xxxx

Are you hosting Christmas for the family this year Dinah/NIM? We're hosting OH's family again and I'm looking forward to it now; especially after learning what not to do last year so it should be even better this time! We got our meat from Morrison's, was really good value, can't remember exact prices but OH's parents gave us £70 to cover the cost of the meat and we got a turkey crown and a beef joint for about half that. :)

I can't believe we're so far into October already, I haven't even started on my goals! I get paid on Thursday so I can actually go out and buy raw ingredients for Christmas pressies at the weekend and get started on making things, I've also also MIL to help me with my sewing projects and she's almost giddy with excitement at the prospect. This weekend we moved my craft desk into the living room so I'll actually use it (too lonely and cold in the spare room! :o) and I've sorted out my Christmas craft bits so in theory I should be able to just sit down one night and stick said bits together to create cards. The reviews are in my head but need to be written. The weight is clinging on for dear life! I put 4lb on in Florida, lost 1lb this week but it's going to be a big ask to lose the other 3 by the end of the month! :p

Back at work today, feeling a lot less fuzzy headed now thank goodness! Last night OH asked me if it was actually this anxiety thing I had last year flaring up again and got me all worried that maybe it was, it's not easy trying to work out if you're all tired and dizzy because of a bug or because your brain's gone wonky! ;)

Thanks TPA. My Grandma just told me my Dad put one of her toys in with her so I'm all teary again! My Brother also wrapped her up in an old union jack duvet - so she got a proper send off! I don't know if I commented on your thread or not, but your new pooch is such a sweetie :D How's he settling in?

Good idea with the time off though!

Good luck with the cake, Wendz! I made my Parents' one for their hamper this year - using special cider brandy we got in Somerset. First time doing it completely and it turned out well. I mean, it looks well at least!

Pssh, you can lose 3lb easily by the end of the month Birdie! Positive attitude n'all :D

Not much to report my end. I have somehow, magically, in ways I'm not 100% sure of managed to work my current account up past £120 *shrug* So I'll wait it out until payday/Friday and see what I can afford to move into the car account. My Dad knows some tyre men in the town next to our village and thinks he'll be able to get my tyres cheaper than the £250 quote I have from elsewhere (cheapest I've found so far!) also sent OH to work with the task of asking of what discounts we can get on contents insurance. Which he'll forget. But at least I remembered to ask. It isn't due until next month. Can't believe we'll have been in the house for a year then!

66 days until Christmaaaaaassssssssss :rudolf: (we bought our tree and wrapping paper this weekend. I want the first weekend in December to get here already so I can wrap the presents watching Annie and Elf!)

I love Christmas films too Cinny. i can't wait til Christmas this year. DD will be so excited (she's 4). Got to decide whether or not we're going to my parents for dinner though. they only live up the street and will be down in the morning to see DD open her presents so we will see them even if we don't go up for dinner. on the other hand. Cooking Christmas dinner with an excited 4yo, a (roughly) 6 week old baby, plus Christmas morning service at church could be a bit much. need to have a think and a chat with DH I think.

Check out Legal & General for contents insurance Cinny, ours is really cheap with them, think it's less than £10 a month (and £11 for life insurance). :)

I remember reading on someone's DFW diary that they took a week off work and spent it doing temp work for extra money- good idea but they must be really dedicated to the cause to spend their 'rest' weeks working!

I can't believe Christmas is getting so close! I want to try making a Christmas cake, I found a recipe that an old colleague gave me at the weekend so may give it a go, but if it goes wrong it seems like quite an expensive mistake!
