I remember reading on someone's DFW diary that they took a week off work and spent it doing temp work for extra money- good idea but they must be really dedicated to the cause to spend their 'rest' weeks working!

DH did this 2 years ago when we were REALLY struggling. He took nearly 3 weeks off work and worked for the PO over the Christmas period. We managed to pay the whole lot of the extra wages off our debt which put us in a position to save for a house deposit. (unfortunately we got the deposit, bought the house and ended up back in debt :o but that's another story!)

I am doing it as i do them. Some of the sites such as OP, Vivatic and pureprofile i have to go and check as they don't often e-mail me. I am a member of quite a few sites now.

  • My mum did Xmas day for a dozen when I was 2 weeks old, she is truly barking!
My bfs parents go away during December so I'm going to go stay at his, we both have visions of us and the dog in some kind of winter wonderland, decorating, making snowmen etc. In reality it will prob just be dark and cold, we'll get the flu and be knackered from work. Pessimistic, me!?

Glad you're feeling better birdie :)

I'm looking forward to Christmas too. OH and I are staying on our own in London. It's going to be great!! Last year we got so sick with swine flu, it was a bit of a horrible time. Going to make up for it this year :D However, I haven't got too much time off to play with :(

Having a slight  day with work. I don't know what I am supposed to say in this next chapter. I think the weekend will be chores and work by the looks of it... Still it's a good feeling to get things done.

Houses are tricksy - would love to have an extra 10k to spend doing ours up. But just making do and mending at the moment. The double glazing has been such a good investment. It is so much warmer than last year.

Hi Dinah (oh crap and NIM!!:rotfl:)

Have you got any A/L owing to you, I think you earn a similar amount to me......i.e. loads more than my DH. Have you thought about taking off a couple of days to catch up with your lists? I have loads of leave owing and have decided to take one day a week off in November..have promised myself they will be productive days and not days spent cuddling the dogs on the sofa:rotfl:. You are far more motivated than me and I know you would use your time far more wisely than me:o Would take some of the stress off too.

    TPAx

PS so sorry to read about the dog Cinny xxxx

I did actually do some things off the list, I was just too tired to fight with MSE and the new html posts to cross things off! I've got a few days left to take, so hopefully they'll give us a boost.

Christmas turkey ordered, exciting! Are you doing Christmas at yours Dinah?

Yep, very excited, and its an incentive to clear the dining room of all the crap that needs ebaying as otherwise we'll have nowhere to eat.

Back at work today, feeling a lot less fuzzy headed now thank goodness! Last night OH asked me if it was actually this anxiety thing I had last year flaring up again and got me all worried that maybe it was, it's not easy trying to work out if you're all tired and dizzy because of a bug or because your brain's gone wonky! ;)

You're going through some big changes mentally with deciding to start a family, I think most people would be anxious. x
