Oooppppssss - 'tinternet's starting it's usual Sunday on/off .....
Found an 09 plate for £5,900 so £1,200 difference (but it's 200 miles away which is quite far just to go for a look)
Could get the same model as mine, for around the same price as mine IYSWIM but if I'm changing it, I really wanted the size up so Maisie can go in the boot ...... she doesn't like being on the back seat but more importantly for me anyway, she's making an absolute mess of the inside of the car:eek: Also, don't know how a dealer would feel about trading a car in for one of the same value?
There is literally mud everywhere - she gets in and shakes ..... and it's everywhere (believe me) on the doors, seats, roof etc etc- she'll absolutely ruin it at this rate (which will knock loads off the value).
Unfortunately she just won't fit in the boot in this one!
mmmmmmm don't know what to do!
Feeling a bit stressed as you might be able to tell- sorry for rambling on

If you can afford it, then I'd say go for the car with the bigger boot. Can you wipe her with an old towel before she jumps in the car? That's what I do with mum's dog, and it's much better than if he jumps in firstBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

*sigh* - I've tried!
She's errrrr not keen on being towel dried - she does have a few hang ups- you never really know what's happened to them before if you get them as an adult:(
With her, she was shown when she was wee and think she hates anything associated with that - being bathed, towel dried, would imagine the hairdryer (which is where I think the hoover issue may come from as they sound a bit the same) etc.
Will keep hunting!Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

It might be easier for you if you could get the next size up.

It is difficult when you don't know what they've been subjected to
maybe use a treat as a bribe for the towel?

 will have a chat with DF (he likes to be involved in these things- although I've managed to get a better deal than he's found on the last 3 cars;);))

Good idea - will give it a try
Right - no rest for the wicked. Looks reasonably OK out there just now (but a bit on the chilly side as there's quite a wind blowing:eek:) so better go & take Maisie for her afternoon stroll!
Think I'll head off down the woods next to the beach - there's a burn runs along the side of the beach so hopefully I'll manage to persuade her to go in there!

Is there any difference in the insurance group between the different sizes of car?
This is where our old Defender comes into its' own. You clean the inside each spring (to remove the mould that accumulates) and tip the water out of the foot well using the rubber mats whenever it has rained and after that, you don't really care if it gets muddy as it is a car that allows for no vanity
SLSave £12k in 2025 #2 I am at £4863.32 out of £6000 after May (81.05%)
OS Grocery Challenge in 2025 I am at £1286.68/£3000 or 42.89% of my annual spend so far

Hi Rising - caught up this whole thread
The budgeting and spreadsheeting chat didn't put me off - in fact it struck a real chord. I am trying to wean myself to only updating my spreadsheet once a week, instead of several times per day!
Re the mud magnet. Just before I put my collie into the car I rake the hair on her back the wrong way, and then go "Shakey, shakey, shakey!" (God, how nuts do I sound?) She usually obliges with a wee shake and the worst of the water/mud comes off.
She is long haired tho' - and from Maisie's pic she looks short haired, so she might not bother if she has her "feathers" ruffled.
Worth a go tho'.
Hope you feel better soon. Going to see Kevin Bridges tonight, and I cannot wait. It's a real MSE one too, as both myself and the teens are stewarding in return for free entry - result.
Take care,

Yup - and everything else too!:(
One of the reasons I've got the one I have is that it's really cheap to run - £30 tax, low insurance, great mpg @ 44 + depending on where I'm driving..
The one I'd like is £140 tax:eek:, higher insurance group and only does around 32 mpg - fuel would cost around £10 / week more...
So say an extra £40 / month for fuel, £10 for tax .... then extra insurance costs etc.:(
Don't think I can afford to run the bigger one- will have to have a hunt around to see what else I can find (really wanted to stay with the manufacturer as I like their cars & the 5 year warranty;)) mmmmm

Oh lordy BiB what a way to spend a Sunday :rotfl:- I'm def a lot more relaxed about my spreadsheets, pots etc than I was a couple of months ago- down to the support of others on here :T I do update the SoW (spending spreadsheet) whenever I spend something but *think* I've got the hang of the pots now & found a transfer system that seems to work for me ...... so much easier!:)
