So .... 1st December
Where has this year disappeared to?
I just can't believe we're into December already *shakes head*:o
Was hunting for a handbag last night - why is it that I have loads but they are all either a) very, very small (going out ones that literally a purse, lipstick & keys will fit into) or b) very, very big (that you can carry your life around with you and weigh a ton) ..... I seem to be missing "in between" ones
Anyway, when hunting, I found a £1 coin in one of them- it's gone straight into the bus fund tin :T but I must admit to having a wee chuckle at myself ... and how happy I was when I found it!
Today is also Day 50 since I stopped smoking :T - it's starting to get a bit easier now but there are still times when I really want one:oGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

VSP challenge starts again today - I can't believe I never knew this was around last year as I used to round down every Saturday (money went towards the new car in Sept).
Hoping to put it towards a new Dy*son .... mine's getting on a bit (hand me down from DM) and is really heavy and doing the stairs is impossible.
So ... this is what I really want ..... *sigh* - it really is fab as it's so light & easy to use ......

Wow, day 50, well done! :T This is going to make such a difference next year (health and wealth-wise).
Don't forget you could buy a 6 month tax disk in February to move the annual one to the other end of the year if Jan to March is not manageable.
On the subject of vacuum cleaners and Dysons in particular, we are on our third - a DC01, DC04 and now this dinky cylinder one here but DH is 6'4" and struggles with it. He wants the upright ball one for animal hair. Most of our floors are brick or wood with rugs on so not sure we could justify it... but he does most of it because the dust makes me so wheezy so I may yet concede. A "won-one" DH is a happy and contented DH
Very cold here today so heating is on this morning. I think I'm a bit shivery because I had my flu-jab yesterday (finally!) and my annual asthma check. I was really chuffed as my peak flow is now higher than the healthy average for my age and height (just the weight bit above average then...:o!)
Might go for a crunch round the garden in a bit. I love the frosty crunchy thing
All the best

Hopefully I've got it beaten this time ......Suffolk_lass wrote: »Don't forget you could buy a 6 month tax disk in February to move the annual one to the other end of the year if Jan to March is not manageable.
Ohhhh that's an idea - hadn't even occurred to me as the last one you could only get an annual one (as it was only £30!) ..... will add to today's "to do" list!:)
I'll have a look up and see how much extra it is - I've always just paid for the year (as I begrudge paying more to do it 6 monthly) but it would be handy to have it separated from the service (and MOT in future years):) and this years' service is a big one and around £250:eek:

I have to say ... if you've got pets that moult ... then Dyson's really are the only thing to have!
My neighbour has one of the ball ones and it's very manouvreable (sp?) but I personally don't like uprights ....ETA not sure if you can get cylinder ones with the ball?Suffolk_lass wrote: »Very cold here today so heating is on this morning. Chilly here too & my feet are cold so may have to go & find an extra pair of socks.
I only had my flu-jab on Thursday - and was told off for leaving it so late!
Great news on the peak flow :T - hopefully mine will improve once the cigs get totally out my system!

Have car tax rates recently gone up?
Current 6 month tax on car (done by dealer or I would've put a year on then to keep separate from service etc) shows a cost of £55 (didn't think of looking before:o) and they said it was £100 for the full year's tax.
Looking online just now, it's showing as £120 for the full year and £66 for 6 months ..... so that's gone up by £20 / year .... not impressed:mad:
Anyway, it would only cost me £6 extra to do it for 6 months and then the full year in August so think I'll probably do that.....

Stage .... (?) forgotten what number I'm on!
After catching up with Tiglath's diary and her bargains of the day, I realised that I've totally got out the habit of bulk buying frozen veg etc.
I'd bought some veg at Ice*land / Farm*foods to try and TBH it was actually OK and fine for using in casseroles / sauces / soups etc which is what I mainly do with it.
The exception would probably be carrots as Maisie gets one everyday to a) keep her occupied while I'm cookingand b) help clean her teeth:)
Sure it would save me loads - especially being single as I frequently can't get through stuff before it goes off.
So .... next plan:
Work on reducing amount of stuff in freezers- I have been trying to have at least one meal / day out of them and the drawers now open/close a bit easier but there's still a lot of stuff in there!:o
Ideally I'd like to empty one draw of the outside freezer (which actually should be Maisie's drawer but have now found an alternative food for her which isn't frozen and .... well her drawer got used) for veg.
If I do a monthly trip to the big town and go to Farm*foods and Ice*land - oh and there's a £land there too so even better, it will more than offset the fuel costs :T
mmmmm think I need to start writing all the steps down on a sheet and stick it somewhere so I don't forget them!;)Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
