Strange how at least 2 others have supported Arcon5's argument - i.e. substantiated it. Does this mean they are sycophants or were coerced into doing so? Where's your evidence or substantiated argument to prove Arcon5 is wrong?
I had to look sycophants up. You learn something everyday. I will endeavour to make use of the word within 7 days.0 -

one of my friends used pensive the other day, not an exciting word I accept but not one you often hear in conversation.
on the book idea, I work for a major retailer and deal with records of deliveries all the time, those that write in a book are in the minority and will soon be replaced by the hand held terminals, in the 21st century data has to be accessed at many different points almost instantaneously, a major business cannot deal with paper records as it impacts on the customer service experience. I thought that royal mail had upgraded all their systems, obviously in some areas this has still not happened, however just because he may be right about this does not detract from the fact he is a terrible human beingThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. I always check words I've not heard before. I will be looking for an opportunity to try it out now.
I've no idea why ours still uses the book. I'm in London also which makes it even stranger.
EDIT: Thinking about it they must have to go back and scan the signatures to put them on the parcel tracking system.0 -

Yeah that is what they must do, but really that is only going to be a short term solution as no company is going to pay for data entry long term as its repeating a process that can be captured at point of delivery. The problem with Royal Mail is its so outdated and their systems badly need investment. Obviously in the past everything was done on paper but these days most delivery firms are moving into the electronic age. Companies like Yodel get alot of abuse on this site but I can sit at work, log onto their site and know exactly what time my parcel has been delivered at my house and who has signed for it. This is the sort of service people expect these days. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

How wonderfully gracious you are! Are you planning to apologise for your balanced and carefully considered post?
Given that acorn5 has done nothing to you other than disagree with your opinion you have decided that he is a terrible human being.
There are many things that qualify one as a terrible human being; wife beaters, child abusers, rapists etc.
However, having the temerity to disagree with another poster, does NOT qualify!

I must admit I don't know him personally (and I wouldn't want to) however the posts he continues to put on this forum only reinforce my belief that he is a terrible person. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Listen your paper book signing idea is rubbish. If I phone a customer services of a courier I expect pretty instant service, not to be told they have to send off for the postmans little notebook..... I find it hard to believe that despite your claims that you have signed a paper book from a postman. You are doing your usual trick by producing unsubstantiated evidence to back up a ridiculous argument and then attempting to be clever in your responses, to cover up the fact you're wrong
In addition your other example of how you would fake proof of delivery was also ridiculous and ill thought out (as usual from you).
well take it from me the use of paper siginng in RM is still prevalent
yes the PDAs are used in many offices and their use is increasing(sadly they are crap tech) but paper sheets are still used
Im not sure how I can substantiate it but I know its the case0 -
Reading this thread, the most useful remark was by Custardy in the first reply to the OP - 'have you checked the item number relates to a package delivered by your local delivery office? It states the name of the delivering office on the track and trace page.'
The OP has still to answer this simple question....................0
