Just spent the morning tidying up my accounts.. :D everything is where it should be and looking pretty good. I was tempted to make an overpayment but there really is no need if I've offset the cash..

After a spendy few weeks we've managed some activities that have saved money :T
    • cancelled Netfl1x - we weren't using it enough and they keep cancelling the series we're watching as we're half way through:mad:
    • next door had the hedge cut down by 3 foot  so no need for the hedge man to do this one this year, he'll still have the back hedges though
    • day off work today so no petrol spend :D
    • sorted through the freezer, now need to make a meal plan to use it all
    • caught up on surveys, not far off a few payouts again so must make more of an effort - total "earnings" this year to date £350
    • £33.46 redeemed from TCB, put into offset

I seem to have turned my keyboard on my laptop American so I can't find the GBP sign :rotfl: will need to google the fix later. e.t.a. fixed it.. stoopid thing :rotfl:

Also need to research stocks and shares ISA's, my sister showed them to me whilst I was visiting and has done really well on them. However, she is very lucky with this sort of thing and is happy to takes risks, I am the complete opposite and risk-adverse so I need to research a bit more.

We have done a trial run on paper and the ones OH picked have done very well in the 2 weeks we've been tracking so maybe i'll just let him pick :rotfl:

Hope you all have some lovely sunshine today, off to pop the washing on the line and start meal planning :D

Shala - have had a very quick read from beginning. Congratulations on your reduction progress - the £7 reduction in daily interest when you had to change illustrates the importance of "being on the journey"

Couple of questions if I may.

    1. How is your eye now? Do you mind me asking what you were suffering from?

    2. How much interest is your savings earning? I have not read anywhere that you got over your S@ntander opposition - but then refer to your post 709! (cut off nose etc)

I had a few smiles along the way but physically laughed loud at the lettuce knife and the cake! Fab

It bores me stupid Beanie :rotfl: I just keep thinking must beat last years total..

Got to admit to cheating a little though as £100 was from a competition win!:o

Hi Ahem  thanks for dropping by..

I have Fuchs Syndrome which is something to do with inflammation of the tissue at the back of the eye and quite fun to say when people ask me what I have.. ;):rotfl:

It caused a cataract on my right eye which I had removed, I'd gone completely blind  but now I have about 95% sight back :T

Re: the bank situation - I am now with T$B so i'm earning 5% on my £2k for my current account and I have the rest in my offset account "earning" 3.49% against the mortgage. There are better savings accounts out there I know but I got a bit muddled with all the accounts I used so I'm keeping it simple this year! Maybe something to look at again in the future..

And i'd just like to state for the record that the lettuce knife has never been used on cake (but it hasn't been used on that much lettuce either :o)

Just popped over to Gally's :D - you seem to be getting into the swing of retirement - hope you enjoy every minute :T

Nearly the end of the month so nearly time to update my spreadsheets :j I get so bored in the month waiting to update :p

    Money saving/spending stuff
    • we start our regular OP's again this month :j so an extra £210.54 making it's way over on the 1st July
    • £2.80 OP'd to mortgage - over budgeted for Water bill :D
    • got a new phone, mine keeps crashing when I try to use it and has left me stranded a few times this month  I priced everything up and I found a new phone for £21.99 a month so not too bad but double what I was paying :( I compared it to buying a refurbished phone and staying with my old tariff but it was £60 diff for the year so not worth the hassle it would have caused IMHO
    • hygienist apt - free toothpaste samples obtained :rotfl: £52 for the visit, but they're very happy with me so brilliant progress on the manky teeth
    • bought some new tops from town this morning using vouchers so free :T
    • hairdressers next week:( lots of pennies but no more grey:j

So no other news really.. everything's is swimming along nicely, obviously I could do with some more money to make bigger OP's but couldn't we all ;)

    Hope everyone's keeping well xx

Beanie - I can't wait to stop having to colour mine, I've been grey since I was 25!! my fringe is the worst bit, it borders on white, which is the most noticeable part

Round up of my monthly figures :D

    June Monthly figures
    Outstanding Mortgage £141,420.29
    Family Loan £680 (OH's)
    Offset pot - £15,007.76
Approx. Monthly interest saved and OP'd £70.80
New end date - Nov 2028

Total Debt as present moment £127,092.53
    -£1,885.53

Hopefully in two months time we should be sub £140k on the mortgage - I may have hurried that along by accidently OP'ing an amount that was meant for savings.. :o its in the ether at the moment so I don't know where its gone  but i'll check tomorrow!

It's too easy when you have accounts in the same bank to press the wrong one - well that's my excuse :rotfl:

I think we have to pay for the holiday at the end of July so my offset pot will be reducing drastically.. hopefully it won't affect the daily interest too much, it's down to an average £11.25 compared to £18.16 when we first started the mortgage :T:T

At least you could wear a wig! i've thought of doing that a lot.. apparently a friend of OH's does it, he didn't understand why she had so many different hairstyles until she told him :rotfl:

Good week on payouts this week :)
    • Youg0v payment on it's way
    • £10 voucher ordered from CP
    • £25 won on premium bonds - OP'd to the mortgage

Bad week on paying out this week :(
    • booked in to have hair extensions at the hairdressers  (wigs would be cheaper!!)
