Bread bag idea is a good one, thanks jordylass. I always shake mine up in some oil in the saucepan I've parobiled the wedges in (when cooled). I also like to add paprika as well as salt.0

I chip mine then throw into a old bread packet with a slosh of olive oil and teaspoon of cumin or paprika. Toss them about then onto a pizza tray (with holes) and cook for 40 minutes.
I have a roll of small polythene bags for this express purpose. The thinnest ones I can find - about £2 and they'll last some years. Uses less oil, mixes thoroughly whatever spices you add, and ensures the chips are all well-coated. Probably use half the oil you would by drizzling it over.0 -
I often look at the weekly menu's to get ideas myself, and see homemade chips on the menu, can someone give me the recipe for homemade chips please.
Many thanksWaddle you do eh?0 -

Do you mean how to make homemade chips? If so, you peel potatoes, cut them in half and then slice through each half into 'strips', you can go as thin or thick as you want. Put oil in a deep fat fryer, wait until that heats up, put chips in a tea towel to get excess water off and pop your chips in the basket. Depending on your deep fat fryer (I used to have an electric one, don't anymore) I think it can take 15 minutes or so.0

Thanks, but I dont have a deep fat fryer - If I cook them in the oven do I need to parr boil first.Waddle you do eh?0

i always just cut raw potatoes into wedges, without peeling, spray on some oil, and cook them in the oven for 30 minutes. no pre-cooking required. no flavouring needed, but i also have home grown rosemary in the garden so i use that sometimes too.It will be mine in 2009: 1. If you have'nt got spray on oil, put the chips in a plastic bag with a spoon of oil and give it a good shake, you can put some flavouring in as well if you fancy it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I know it's not very OS, but I'm a busy single mum and often have to fall back on frozen oven chips. Does anyone know of a way I can prepare my own version of these to freeze and be cooked in the same way as the pre-prepared ones?
Thankyou in advance for your responses.0
