Even when using a three letter abbreviation one of them has to be a swear word.
People use a swear word because they can`t think of another word to use because of poor English education.
All is not loss though, because you can enrol in an English night school class.
After a few months, probably a lot longer in your case, you will be able to return to these forums and contribute something positive and generally add interest to the debate.
Possibly, instead of examining someone else's use of the english language you would be better spending your time increasing your own knowledge of the world?
I beleve one could do this at night school too0 -

Why do some people assume a Sat Nav is 100% accurate? "Take the 3rd Turning" for example, always 100% right? no, so Speed cant always be 100% right, correct?
The speed reading from a satnav is taken from the position data, which is accurate to within 40 feet. That doesn't sound very accurate but what is important is that the inaccuracy is consistent across a large area. So for example if you're on the M6 driving past Birmingham and the satnav mistakenly has you down as being 30 feet too far west, by the time you reach Coventry it will still have you down as being too far west.
Speed reading on a satnav is performed by reading your position, waiting a set amount of time (usually 1 second) and then reading your position again and calculating what distance you have covered in that time. It is accurate providing you are going in a straight line on a flat road at a constant speed with a decent view of a large amount of sky, hence why I use these moments to calibrate my speedo in my head.
The fact that many satnavs come with inaccurate and out of date maps is irrelevant. This is a perfect example of someone who was badly educated and with low interlect.

it's a common occurrence that I get tailgated, flashed and hooted at for doing 50mph in the average speed limit areas! Lorries are the worse culprits! I tend to stick in the nearside lane and I get lorries overtaking me while hooting!
As others have said, check your speedo against a SatNav. Car manufacturers always set them to read high to avoid repercussions when someone gets prosecuted for speeding.
If you are driving at than the speed limit through road-works, don't stick in the nearside lane if there is a width restriction. Where lorries, buses, vans, etc are not allowed in the right hand of two lanes, they can't overtake you, so it is anti-social to block them. If you insist on driving too slow, pull right and signal to let them overtake....0 -

I think Steven Fry sums this up very well:There used to be mad, silly, prissy people who used to say swearing was a sign of a poor vocabulary -such utter nonsense. The people I know who swear the most tend to have the widest vocabularies and the kind of person who says swearing is a sign of a poor vocabulary usually have a pretty poor vocabulary themselves... The sort of twee person who thinks swearing is in any way a sign of a lack of education or a lack of verbal interest or -is just a !!!!ing lunatic...0 -

Incorrect
GPS speed is calculated using Doppler shift.
The difference between the known satellite carrier frequency and the frequency determined at the receiver is known as a “Doppler shift”. This Doppler shift is directly proportional to velocity of the receiver along the direction to the satellite, regardless of the distance to this satellite.

What you are talking about is the software, which can make a very big difference to what you experience.
Going down to basics - the actualy poisition is usually within 10m with something like the SiRFstarIII chipset or similar (or when at work my military GPS can give me <1m).
How that is interpreted is down to the software and the other hardware one which the savnav is based. For example a cheap satnav (or one on a smartphone) sometimes lags behind, back in the days of the early smartphone I had TomTom on my Nokia N95 - it would often tell me to take the turning 50m after I had already taken it.

That is apparently a proposal for different calculation methods of tiny variations of speed, not necessarily a description of how the system works at the moment.
It might be useful for measuring tidal or glacier speeds, but two decimal places of miles an hour for a car is somewhat redundant.
Of course there is Doppler shift, and the largest proportion of it is due to the velocity of the satellite, which is hundreds of times the velocity of a vehicle on the earth's surface.0 -

Swearing has not been proven to be a sign of lower intelligence. In fact people who claim that it is are usually masking their own shortcomings. I swear a lot but I could probably run rings around you in most things.0 -

....
Can anyone point me at specific, reliable information that proves car speedos are calibrated to read high.
Or can anyone identify any info that proves car speedos are calibrated at all and if so what specification do speedos comply with.
P.S.
SatNavs may give a reasonable average speed reading when receiving a constant good GPS satellite signal for the required distance that the software uses to calculate speed. But, does the average driver know what the signal quality is at all times and do they know how the software calculates the speed, if not then do not rely on the SatNav speedThis is a system account and does not represent a real person.
