You may be happy to misinterpret the Highway Code but have a read of what Roadcraft has to say when a car pulls across in front of you:

"... There is no time to sound the horn. In fact, the use of the horn may be counter productive. The driver of the car may brake." Page 37 :)

Look at that video and ask yourself "What if the Focus had braked when I sounded the horn?" and you have your answer as to whether you should have used the horn or not.

The horn is for use when there is a benefit to using it, it's not a display of anger which, from your previous videos, is mainly what you use it for.

Do I look angry? Did I proceed to tailgate the guy? Did I angrily overtake him and slam on the brakes?
No, I followed him (at a good distance) to the next island and calmly continued on my journey......

Your problem pal, is that you can't stand the idea that there are people out there with video camera's in their cars, you think we're judging others when all we're doing is venting frustration in a way which is far more constructive than knocking someone's head off.

But, every video on YT is the same, you always get a few trolls and you always get the supporters.
    Opinions are like ar5eholes.....

You asked if you tailgated. Your gap is a second or less from the Focus throughout the whole video which is far too close. The precious Highway Code which you compulsively misquote says you should leave two seconds in the dry. :)

You are amusingly wrong when you claimed I "cannot stand the idea of people out there with video cameras in their cars". Perhaps you missed my statement in post #27 that I own and operate a dashboard camera myself! You either failed to read that post, or your thinking is unfathomable.

Dashcam videos on YouTube do get a mixed response, but videos uploaded by decent drivers get far more likes than they do dislikes. Why do you think your videos almost always get more dislikes than likes?

Has anyone noticed how dangerous it is to use a roundabout to go back the same way (ie you v missed your turning) why is it the 95% of drivers dont expect this and pull out in front of you.?
  • I have to agree with pendulum on your following distance, you are far too close to the focus. I imagine the use of the horn was in anger, most people would do this, I know I do when someone does something stupid like the focus driver. Saying you are using it as a warning doesn't really make any sense, what difference will warning him of your presence make? You are going to have to react to his actions as you are now behind him and know he is a poor driver so do not want to assume he will react in any rational way even with the knowledge you are behind. Using the horn will only make things worse as he will become even more unpredictable and may panic.

As I said I would probably have hit the horn too, but admit it would have been in anger. However thats as far as the anger would go, I would still keep my distance (probably greater distance knowing how clueless he is) and would rather he was infront of me than behind so only overtake if I knew I could get another car between us.

I imagine the reason for this is that so many people who are turning right at a roundabout (especially small ones) will continue to indicate right as they exit the roundabout rather than indicate left after the 2nd exit. Therefore a car waiting at the 3rd exit will often move out onto the roundabout even if the car on it is still indicating right, assuming he is going to exit.

what are you on about you clown? when did i say anything about dragging people from cars? i said i'd expect to be dragged from the car.

and i don't lend my cars to the general public to drive round roundabouts. and if i'm driving them i'm not in the left hand lane to turn right; which puts my cars in a safe place to last more than a day.

Ok, sorry I missread your post. Just thought it a bit funny that if you did something stupid on the road then you should be dragged from the car and stomped on! I see so many clueless people every day, it would get tiring and expensive to do this to every one!!

However I completely disagree with your second point. How is disobeying the highway code putting your car in a safe place. Are there other aspects of it that you disagree with and would also deliberately disobey? You dont know if the markings are there deliberately to ease congestion or have been put incorrectly in error. Either way you are best obeying them (if everyone else did there would be no problem) and if it really concerned you then contact the council (or whatever department is responsible for road markings) and find out if they are in error.

    Edit:
To return to the original question, for those that believe you should be in the left lane, would you indicate right and does anyone have a source to confirm the rules here? I would be interested to know the answer to this or at least the opinion of others...
  • OP be thankful you don't have to deal with this one :rotfl:

  • 3rd exit from a roundabout, turning right - right hand lane, just passing 2nd exit indicate left and move over
