Desperate To Be Debt Free

  • Hi all,

Not really a lot to tell you MSE wise, I’m afraid.

I paid another whopping……………wait for it…………………£15 towards my debt (I can sense your shock) but every little helps and all that.

I had to pay for my fitness course, which I did, with actual money from my bank, not the bank’s money :D AND I’m still in credit – so it’s all good at the minute and pay day is only 15 days away too.

Still want to pay another £235.68 towards my BC before pay day, but it’s all dependant on when I’ll get my expenses (roughly £70), if I can make any more money from selling/MS/surveys etc – but I’ve had an expensive month but I can make up for it in December.

I had a bit of a brainwave (these are few and far between) which I’m going to share:

I desperately need a new jacket. I’ve seen one that I want, no, NEED in my life. It’s a replica from a film and its $160 plus $40 p&p (!!) therefore making it $200.

I want/need to lose 20lbs – so for every lb I lose, I’m going to put $10 into a VSP for my jacket! I’m starting today so first weigh in next Wednesday. I know, over Christmas what a stupid time, but maybe clothes will get, and more importantly keep, me focussed.

So, that’s the plan – just need to see the results now!

Hope you all have a MSE day :)

  • It's only 10am and already something good and something bad MSE wise has happened!

Let's start with the bad - I opened up a letter from (evil) First Direct, who said they are going to charge me £25! This is from a dispute as money came out of that account which I didn't authorise - taking me over my £0 OD limit and therefore initiating a fee. I was told they wouldn't do this - but needless to say I was on the phone for 10 minutes to hear them say this again!

Now the good - an item I sold via eBay went missing (£7.55 and £2.49 p&p) so I had to put in a claim through Royal Mail. I just received a cheque today for................£43.07! :j:j:j:j I'm going to cash it in now before they realise they've made a mistake!

I'm still in 'the black' with my current account - but just barely (£155.41) I have made some big purchases though this month (£50 present for BF, £105 for my fitness course, £5 for my works christmas lunch, £5 x 2 for sponsorship) and I haven't had a lot of sales this month. Plus I've bought myself a few things (all the MSE way!) which I wouldn't normally buy (but the 3 Wonderbra's for £32 was too good a deal!)

Only another 11 days to pay day!

I WILL MAKE IT IN CREDIT!

  • Hi,

I haven't written in here in ages, just because I haven't been debt busting - mainly surviving to stay in the black! :p

I'm pleased to say that I managed that :D I'm thinking I might swap bank accounts (yet again) to the Halifax so I can get an extra £5 a month. Shouldn't miss out of free money!

Today is pay day (finally!) so I've paid another £250 to my Barclaycard, so that's good :) I know that every month I pay a minimum of £163 to my debts (£263 if you include joint debt) so every over payment is a closer to debt freedom!

This week I always managed to lose 2.4lbs! So that's $24 into my VSP for my jacket :D

I wish it was payday every day......

  • Your doin amazing - just ready through your full diary & I'm gonna subscribe to keep a wee eye on ya!

I started on a few days ago - my aims in 2012 are to lose the debt & 31lbs if possible LOL

However after being so good today I just ate 2 packets of discos & some M&M's out of one of the family bags - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr wasnt even hungry - why oh why oh whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Och well back on it tomorrow!

Good luck with all your plans

  • Hi DollyRocker,

    Thanks for your post :)

I also eat without feeling hungry - it's very annoying! I make sure I eat fulling things now at lunch (rather than 50 calorie soup, I have a jacket potato) so that really limits what I snack on.

I'm sure you'll do fabulously well - keep me updated :D

    xx

  • Yeah it is annoying & as soon as I've done it I get mad at myself! grrrrrrrrr!!

Oh well today is another day & its going well for me to far

    Dxxx
  • I do just the same!

The thing is to praise yourself on the positive changes, rather than dwell on the negative. For example, I had a cream cake at work yesterday, but I split it with someone so I still had a cake with less of the guilt :D

I always try to think about where I've come from (with money saving and weight loss) when I get down. Any change is better than nothing :)

Hope you have a great day and weekend xx
