hi there i am glad that i hadn't had lunch yet when i saw those lovely cakes, as i would have been hungry all over again! They are very well done.

Great that your mum is helping you out. Can I just say though that if your BF paid you back the 2000 pounds he owes you, then that would be a good chunk of your remaining debt....Whilst I know you are both paying in for bills and mortgage, you may have to get tough with him about 'just borrowing a tenner' or however this debt was accrued....Maybe it will make him have his light bulb moment, if he realises he won't be able to continue getting loans off you.

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Hi,

    Thanks for your response.

The cupcakes tasted better than they looked :D

My BF has debt of his own which he is paying interest on. I would rather him pay that off first, then pay me. As soon as he has cleared that, then yes, I would expect him to pay me back. By the time that happens, I'll be able to save that money......or I might have retired! :p

Only 7 more days before pay day. Still in credit! :D

  • Found you!

Your cupcakes do indeed look amazing. I really like homebaking but have a terrible tendency to just stay in and eat what I have produced, so I don't do it too often.

You are doing really well clearing your debts, I'm very impressed.

  • Hey Fudge :D

Thanks for coming to find my diary and your kind words on my cupcakes :) I think it’ll be the only time I decorate cakes as I did it on a course and I don’t have any of the equipment! I did enjoy it though.

So, what did I do yesterday on my journey to be DF? Oh yeah:
    • Free cinema trip
    • Took our own snacks in the cinema
    • Found some money in Topcashback (£2.83) which I didn’t know existed!
    • NSD (until I had to pay for postage on the item from eBay which FINALLY was paid for!)
    • Managed to get £20 as a goodwill gesture for a t-shirt I ordered which would have cost £1.17! :j I didn’t even get charged the postage! So that was a proper win! :D
The funniest thing yesterday was, while I was in the cinema I got paid for one of my items. So when I got home, I was ordering the courier and logged into my PayPal account and they said because I had received £1650 in my account, I had to do some verification checks to make sure I wasn’t money laundering! It shows how much money I’ve actually made this year! All these sales soon add up.

This weekend I have another mystery shopper assignment, so that’ll be another £9 in the pot. I do like doing them, but I feel guilty if I have to write negative things about the store or people! We’re going to see some friends up in Mansfield tomorrow for a takeaway. I’m not keen on that idea, but I’m going to be good and order something healthy(ish) and at least that extra £20 will pay for the diesel and food!

I just looked at last month’s statement and saw I have been charged £5 for overdraft fees! Because my banks month runs from 4th-4th and I get paid on the 15, so I started having a spending diary and looking at what I was buying from then, not the beginning on the month (which wouldn’t have made any difference as I was -£372.78!) but on the plus side, I was charged £10 fees last month, so I’m £5 better off this month already :rotfl:

However, my goal is that the month between November 4th and December 4th I will NOT get charged overdraft fees. Only 4 more days till Pay Day and I’m STILL in credit! It’s looking good :D

  • Well done for still being in credit! Sounds like you had an excellent DFW day :) And those cupcakes look divine, almost too pretty to eat! Almost ;)

Still reading and lurking. Well done for keeping motivated, so many people on here just disappear as they give up. Your spending diary really seems to be helping. Have a good weekend.:)
  • Hey all,

It's finally payday! Yipee! :D And I was still in credit, so double yipee! :D

So what have I done since last week (seems like ages ago when I wrote on here last!):
    • Paid off a whopping £800 off my BC :j
    • updated my ever expanding spreadsheet
    • did my mystery shopping successfully (I hope!)
    • racking up my earnings on Chacha, though still not enough for a payout!
    • started clearing my desk ready to list on eBay
    • nearly finished one of my Star Wars craft items :D

So nothing to amazing. I really need to get a regular second income for the time being. I'm finally enrolled on my fitness course, so when (or if!) I pass, I could see if I can get some part time work in a gym. It'll just help with my debts, and also get me some experience.

I'm not sure what my plans are for the rest of the week. I've got Friday off and I'm finally getting my hair cut (£4.50 at the college!) but that's about it. Hopefully I can get my room sorted and see if there is anything else to list on eBay. I'm getting withdrawals! :rotfl:

Anyway, best be off to bed :)

  • Hi all,

I've been a big, fat pig the last few weeks, so I've been feeling pretty bad :( I don't know why I can't focus on eating healthy and losing weight :(

On to some better MSE news - what have I been doing since my last post?
    • Got my hair cut at the college 4.50! :j I was in there for 3 HOURS though! I'm not 100% sure of it, but I'm sure I'll like it soon. Hair grows though, right?!
Er..........is that it? I must have done some other stuff. Maybe not.......hmm, must try harder.

A thing that did really annoy me was this morning I got a text message statement from FD saying a payment came out of my account of 39.99. I thought it was eBay again and I was going to go mad as I'd cancelled it and changed it to my Santander account.

When I logged on to my account, it was xbox live. Now, I wouldn't be annoyed if it wasn't for the fact I said I didn't want to renew it about 2 weeks ago!

I tried ringing Microsoft but as this was at 8am, it wasn't open. I then rang FD and they were really helpful. In short, they have refunded me the money, stopped any charges (as that pushed me over my OD.....AGAIN!) and have opened a dispute on my behalf.

Still keeping my spending diary but I have a few big spends this month, but hopefully the credit in my account last month will help with that.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll get focused on my weight loss and MSE!

  • This is going from bad to worse! :(

Today I forgot my lunch at home! The first time in months! So I had to go and get something out, so a total fail on a NSD! :(

However, I DID pay 164.32 off my Barclaycard! :j So the balance on that is now just a measly 1100! :money:

Clearly I'm falling by the wayside at the minute, but I think it's because I'm not feeling very well, it's getting to Christmas and I can see actual money in my bank account! So, I have made myself a goal until 11:59pm 31 December 2011 to keep me focused (I'll explain my 2012 goals in a bit) over and above NSD's etc.

    To have a 'free' Christmas
    - i.e. all the presents I have to buy, I earn the money over and above my standard wages. I'm a bit tight (some would say a true MSE! :p) and buy most of my Christmas presents in the January sales! This basically all the fancy Boots gift sets I refuse to pay full price for (I got this bug after working there for 3 years while at uni!) The only extra things I need are for my BF - which I have bought him (and he knows what it is!) so that was 49. I need to make 49 so it's 'free' and then earn at least 100 for the January sales stash

My goal, my ridiculously ambitious goal, for 2012 is to pay off ALL my debts! :rotfl:It will be highly unlikely this will happen (as it's almost my salary before tax!) but you have to aim high!

If I only manage to clear half of it, it's still a fantastic achievement. I think we are all too quick to say how we have failed (ignore the first part of this post!) and don't congratulate ourselves on our achievements - however small.

Exercise and fitness wise - I've signed up to do a 10k again next year. It's the same one as I did this year (my first ever timed run) and I want to do it in 1 hour i.e. 19 minutes fast than last time! Luckily I work with a guy who does Iron Man's for fun (hence I call him Iron Man! :p) who is going to be based in the office near me and we're going to have a running club. The first rule of running club, is not to talk about running club. The second rule of running club, is not to die whilst running to keep up with Iron Man............maybe that should be number one? :p

Also, I start my fitness course in January (ironic much after Christmas?!) so my goal is to pass that.

Right, better go and make some money! :p

  • Hi all,

Just a quick check in. this will be a bit of a rant in places, I apologise for that in advance! I’m feeling really ill and my patience is ridiculously low (and it’s not particularly high at the best of times!)

Today I’ve had quite a good MSE day:
    • 1 book sold on Amazon (£17.99 after fees and the (increased) postage)
    • Meet my mum for lunch = free eats! :D
    • Have two mystery shopper assignments for the weekend
    • Someone at work cut out a picture of Ryan Gosling for me from Total Film (who is currently stuck to my laptop) This totally is a valid MSE item – I didn’t pay for the magazine! :p
The thing I want to rant about is that someone – who is generally a nice person, but offended me today. Like I said, I’m ill so I’m possibly overreacting.

I did start writing the scenario out, but thought I wouldn’t want to read this if I wasn’t me, so I doubt anyone else would! :p Basically it’s just how the other half live – how this person said “cashback on websites is too much hard work” and “if I see something in a store I don’t think ‘Oh, I’ll go home so I can save 10p”

Even when I splurged on my CC’s, I always went to get the best deal – my problem was having to pay it back! :p I’ve never just seen something and said “I have to buy that now” without shopping around – unless I’m on holiday and it’s a bit more difficult to do that (not impossible, just not as easy)

I know not everyone is MSE, and this person is on a considerably lot more money than I am and circumstances are completely different, but I felt he offended me (and the rest of us MSE’s) as it sounded like he was too good for all this. I am very upset by it :(

Anyway, if he wants to waste his money, that’s his prerogative! :p

Hoping to be happier and well tomorrow
