If so I hope you have registered this activity with the inland revenue and are keeping records of all reciepts, sales and expenses.
I think that this thread will have given you an indication that anyone buying and selling for profit declares their taxable income. Unlike the Amazon boards we do actually discuss tax and stuff here as we can all use each others tips for what can be claimed and what cannot.

not bad indeed! that was such a lucky set of circumstances and you've every right to feel very proud, it's mind boggling to think that an auctioneer would turn these books away....0 -
Just a little thought about the thread over at sellers connection - no matter what useful information, help and advice there is over there it always seems to get buried under a heap of vitriol. Any time that I've had a little peek I've come way again pretty quick and been left with the impression that I've walked into a tangled mess of not-so-private rows.
I don't want all of that stuff in my head and I'm happy to come back here where we all support each other with politeness and consideration - if the advice we give to each other is sometimes less than perfect then it's forgivable and I for one am perfectly happy with that, we get by and prosper in our own way and long may it stay like that.
If there are any other refugees from the seller connection that want to take a break from the backbiting they are genuinely :hello: VERY WELCOME :hello: to come here for a little bit of peace and quiet with lots of new friends0 -

Thankyou everybody-yes I'm very happy.....!
The auctioneer did not check the box properly,he saw some signed editions on the top and disregarded the rest....what a shame
I just have a funny feeling I'm going to find something really rare.Last year I found a first signed edition of ? The devil rides back/out (not sure) by Denis Wheatley, quite rare, but with no d/j and very shoddy,I only managed £75.00.Now very good condition with a d/j,your talking 1,2,3+ thousand.
This really stresses the point that condition,1st ed./rare edition/age and your advert are very important when selling.
I did register with Bloomsbury and looked at their completed auctions on bibles, this gave me a good indication that my copy would sell for £400+.It is a valuable source of information to look at that site,as it gives you clear guidelines to what is making 'top dollar' and what to look out for !
Again many thanks and I hope this inspires others to keep looking(they are out there),and as for me ,well my next biggie is going to be massive ! Watch this space......
kind regards bukup0 -
Amazombie wrote:Could I just say that Im not convinced by this argument of dropping the price of a scarce book weekly because its quite likely that for most such books a potential buyer only comes along maybe once a year and its very unlikely that anyone is looking at the Amazon listing for that book on a weekly or even monthly basis. Just a thought.....;)

I've added the original post that Amazombie linked to in the 2nd part of the 1st post so that it's there for future reference - I assumed that he wouldn't mind!0 -
I do prefer this site but I've asked questions on here that no one has answered, put them on the amazon forum and been answered within minutes.

Oh dear, sorry about thatit's probably because the users of the Amazon board are all likely to be full timers and are using their PCs more often so can jump in a little faster than people here - plus there are lots more of them!

Happens to all of us !I think the main reason is we share our success stories and problems so it all gets a bit lost, where as on the Amazon board you can start your own thread.
If you dont get a reply post again, no one here minds.
I had quite a good evening on Ebay but it in no way compares to bukup so im not going to share

Soo
Errrrrrrrrr.............
Your point is?
I have apologised for starting this latest bickering about which board is better, and am sure any sellers or potential sellers will make their own choice of which board to read/contribute to.
I imagine that if these boards were not moderated you could see as much vitriol and off the wall comments here as you do on the amazon boards.
I really don't understand the comment you make, it seems to be implying that tax isn't discussed on the amazon boards, well I can assure you it is, frequently.
Ok, I admit I started this latest round of tit-4-tat bickering on who's better, and I have admitted I regretted doing so, but how many times do you wish me to apologise? All I was trying to do was alert the poster politely that they may be eligible for tax, they replied positively that they were and didn't seem to take it as me having a go, whilst you seem to have done so!Do You Twitter?
Why not follow me and find out what I'm tweeting about!0
