Sales no 14 and 15 today - so I've met my pro merchant target for the first month :T
I was hoping that changing to pro merchant would give me the kick I needed, and now I'm really pleased I went for it. Hope everyone else who took up the offer is getting there too.0 -
Well I've just done it, I've gone pro, also just bought a couple of boxes of books from ebay, hope I've done the right thing!0

Also don't forget that a percentage of your internet costs can also be an expenditure too
You cannot claim for internet costs if the connection is also used for personal use, unless you are charged a fee every time you connect (ie if you pay 1p/minute or something along those lines).repairs for the computer, a percentage of a new computer when the repairs didn't improve the computer.....
Repairs are fine, on a percentage basis between personal and business use. You can only claim capital allowances for a new computer, rather than a straight business expense, again this must be on a percentage basis between personal and business use. I'm not sure whether this is what you meant.Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0 -

Our accountant includes all internet fees (maybe because my OH is using it for his business too?) and 40% (I think)of the cost of the computer0 -
foxybabe wrote:Right, after much deliberation on another thread, I have just started to list a book on amazon (I already have a buyers account, and they havent asked for any more info, is that right?) and the amazon price is £5 lower than the lowest marketplace price. Should I match the amazon price? Surely it will never sell at £5 above their price.
cheers everyone
Hi foxybabe - welcome to the thread. Its possible Amazon have reduced the book price for some reason as they are not normally the cheapest of the 'New' sellers. Its unlikely you'd sell at a higher price unless Amazon don't have the book in stock and say there's a 4-6 week wait as people who are in a hurry will buy at a higher price rather than wait. It all depends really on the book and waiting times etc so hard to generalise too much.
Good luck with it though

Hi Dawn,
in answer to your question above - 'NO' some buyers don't read the descriptionI think some are dazzled by the price and don't even realise they are buying a used book!! Very annoying when it happens especially if you've gone to the trouble of providing a detailed description. I know some buyers even leave a neg about it which is unfair too
.
I came on to have a bigger WHINGE than last time 'cos the previous one didn't work! Not sold anything for 10 days now - I did really well when the Amazon website was in a big mess but nothing since... come on selling fairy sprinkle some magic 'want to buy it' dust over my listings please.0 -
hee hee, I just sold a book!! Not the most expensive one of my collection, but still not bad...
Hope this brings good luck to everyone else waiting for a sale.0 -
On the theme of not reading descriptions, I just got a 4 out of 5 for 'not new as expected but still good' . The book was sold as 'good' with slight page scuffing and shelf wear to cover. I even cut and paste the book description in my despatch note email..still, I suppose 4 out of 5 is still good.
