Bumped into a guy yesterday at an auction(I was having an item valued)and I overheard the auctioneer tell this chap that the box of book were nothing more than tat...! I casually asked the man if I could have a quick look in the box,to which he said, take them on -they're rubbish.Right I thought, these are going straight on Amazon.....!
Well talk about falling off my chair ! All I can think is the auctioneer is blind....
Book 1: Winnie the Pooh-1926 first edition,no d/j condition good+

Sometimes auctioneers have a blind spot like bukup has found and can describe things in the catalogue in a very poor, offhand way and then shove them under the tables - that's where I can be found, sitting on the floor, rummaging (I've given up dressing 'posh' for auction sales, it's comfy jeans now) there's usually a treasure in there somewhere.
I think that bukups timing was incredible, 5 minutes later and the man would have gone off to the tip with that box :eek:0 -
can I have a quick whinge please?
Not sold a thing for a whole week...
...an that's after spending most of last weekend filing and storing everything properly. Maybe I should go back to haphazard piles.0 -

Is there anyone here with a clever tax brain ??
Ive decided to register for tax (after thinking i really didnt need to as i was getting so little back)
however im confused as to how you work out the 'profit' on books, if i purchased a 2nd hand book and paid 10p, and after fees and postage was given £1.10, is it as easy as taking the 2 figures away from each other ie £1 profit. how do i then factor in things like the packing, paper for printing address etc
I also read on the Amazon boards that it was the original RRP price thats used as its cost, so the book is at a loss, but that made even less sense.:o
It just seems so much hassle for the £15 per week i average
Are there any sites for idiot guides I can turn to ???
TIA
