Not sure if this should go on the main board or in the postals thread?
http://www.dubble.co.uk/wimpykid
You have to design a cartoon character - draw it on their entry form & post it to them. Closing date is 9th December and the prize is a Wimpy Kid book & dvd & bundle of chocolate.
If anyone can work out where it should go then please do post it in the relevant place
postals as it requires sending in the post to enter. posted alink to this post for you0 -
Sorry if out of context with current discussion but..........
Hi I have just given in and joinned facebook - I have done it under a psuedo name as i do not want to be identified, on entering a comp I was asked my details which I gave my true name to - will this be kept off the site does anyone know - I was unsure whether to use a psuedo name thinking if I won cash (heres hoping) would a cheque be written in this name, but as my address is not there pressumably they would need to email to confirm details. can anyone help.
By the way I do not have anything to hide or a stalker I just dont want anyone I have ever walked past in a supermarket knowing my business iykwim I dislike the concept of facebook but keep seeing such great prizes I have finally relented
a lot of the terms on fb comps now say that using a name by which you are not normally known will disqualify you. if they publicise the winners names then same as with online comps when you agree to the terms you are agreeing to them doing so in most cases.0 -
If everyone dislikes the weeklies, would you like me to stop doing them?
I find the new rules(?) confusing as well, and just add comps that I am sent.
please dont stop! unless you have had enough and want someone else to take over. i love the weekly thread, and i know im not the only one.
i keep a list of the one day only comps in dailies because more peopel look at that thread every day than look at the weekly thread. but its still very confusing to find them mixed in with the normal weekly comps, which is why i post them to end of your thread with a note saying they go in the one day section and need moving up to the rest at the topi tried removing my list so people would be less confused over whether to add them to daily or weekly, but was asked to put it back because people dont check the weekly thread everyday and these comps are often impossible to enter even late on the day they are open never mind a day or few days later as they have ended.
i know that having them in both threads, as well as in some cases posted on main some weeks is one of the confusing things *shrugs* i dont see what can be done about it though.0 -

I can't see how your thread causes any problems Gilla. Its entirely up to the individual if they what to use it or not. I find it very useful and am extremely grateful for you in keeping it up to date. Its much easier for me to check the sticky threads quickly than run lots of searches on the main forum.
I thought it was ongoing - regs board, End date on Main, and up to the OP whether they do all in one thread or separate.
Please, please keep your thread going, xxx.My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly
Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx0 -

After seeing this, i went looking for it, and if its the comp i think it is, fizzyhelen has posted it on the main board this morning, but someone has actually added an email comp to that thread as well which i can see even people who use the regular board could miss (is it even the same comp?) This seems to have been deleted now
I hate the weekly board, and seeing all this makes me hate it even more - goodness knows how many comps we all miss when its all so confusing.
Glad did join in the previous discussion and decreed that it was up to the OP. Hopefully Fizzyhelen's won't be mergedIf everyone dislikes the weeklies, would you like me to stop doing them?
Noooo! Please don't! Despite the fact I very rarely use them, (and always post links to any comps I post that fit your brief, along with daillies!) I know others do and I'd hate them to miss out simply because the majority don't, IYSWIM - bit like closing libraries
:rotfl:
:T You ARE appreciated :A

if everyone remembers, when we tried posting new threads on main linking to many of the threads that are updated weekly many peoiple shouted and complained that there were now too many useless threads on main so it was decided to stop trying that suggestion out?
clearly im not the only person who dislikes the extra threads on main if they are being merged. i dont see the point in sending a merge request for a thread that links to the ongoing thread when i find the comp on its end day, or occasionally the day before, by that point its already been on main for a number of days anyway and its going to move to game over next day so merging would be a waste of a bgs time really.
one of those merges mentioned by grannybiker though may have been my fault, because i did ask a bg if it had been decided that it was now allowed to dupe ongoing threads every week and if that was the case where could i find the rules/guide saying that as i had missed it (if the thread you refer to is the one i assume it is).
also, i know your saying that less people see it on regs when you refer to thanks, but maybe if everything wasnt handed to them on a plate and people either checked the ongoing threads or missed out more people would start using the threads...atm they can have their cake and eat it without any effort on their part so why change? why try something a little different  i almost wish they would do away with the thanks button here, then no one would know how many people *might* have entered because they thanked the post.
some thoughts.....and im mostly just rambling here, not aimed at anyone in particular.
i wonder if moving the daily and weekly stickies to main (but they would no longer be sticky threads) would help more people to learn of their existance and thus use them? the ongoing threads then would not need to be duped each week and if people still choose to ignore the stickies its their own choice? no one complains about the advents being ongoing threads every year. no one complains about tab and puzzler threads and dupes them on main every week. (yes i know theyre slightly different due to needing to check comp id's but i still cant really see how thats different than checking an ongoing thread with one post a week:rotfl:dont think i ever will tbh).
IF they are going to be duped on main then i would much prefer it as a link to the ongoing thread so i can check my thanks (as i have posted telling you before grannybiker). BUT in some ways that annoys me too. people who dont want to go near regs complain that going to regs requires extra clicks. yet it is THEIR CHOICE to not do so and therefore their choice to possibly miss out on a small number of comps that are not reposted as new threads on main every week
that being the case why should those of us who do make the effort to use the sticky threads be expected to have to make extra clicks to check if we already entered via regs board before we can enter on main? its actually many more extra clicks for us as its one to open the thread on main, one to click to the reg thread, one to check of we thanked or not and then we can close the thread on main or enter and thank both threads. for those to go from main to a reg thread and enter it is one extra click. it feels like yet another way i (and any other end date compers who use the reg sticky threads) are being penalised for comping that way by people who cant be bothered to even give it a fair trial before they condemn the regs board :mad:0 -
grannybiker wrote: »Glad did join in the previous discussion and decreed that it was up to the OP. Hopefully Fizzyhelen's won't be merged
The fact there seem to be no rules (as weeklies seem to be at the discretion of the OP) is indeed confusing, but as PCL said above, now it seems to be at the discretion of the OP, as long as the comp's getting maximum exposure on main & a link's been sent to regs, perhaps folk should stop grumbling at OPs (And needlessly merging!) and get on with entering comps
Just MHO:rotfl:
its the bgs who do the merging, perhaps suggest this to them?
one final point re links in regs....please do add them for ongoing threads, but if they are being posted as new threads each week and the original thread is going to go to game over or not be updated with a link to the new thread please dont add a link to the weekly thread, i very much doubt gilla wants to change the link every week, especially if she isnt given the new link and wouldnt necessarily know whats happening with them (sorry if im speaking out of turn gilla).
it really, really really is a case of either ongoing thread plus link in weeklies or new thread each week, a mix of the two does not work when the thread in weeklies then gets locked/goes to game over and cant be updated with either the new answer or link to the current thread on main and the thread on main doesnt mention its linked in regs already (which people who dont use weekly sticky would not necessarily know).
and i swear i will totally shut up on the matter again now, and say thank you to you all for listening :A0 -
No sign of this comp in search:
http://www.milletsports.co.uk/competitions/Teva
but the prize is identical to this one:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3549837
which is Teva as well.
Can anyone work out if it's a separate comp or just different link for the same comp?0
