Exactly the opposite of what Woolworths said - I doubt these play DRM music. If you ripped the music from a CD then try ripping it without any protection, I expect it will then work.

The music files you have are DRM protected - a scheme that strips consumers of their rights.

You can only play those files on a player that is DRM enabled.

    Thanks for the find!

It will be excellent for a started mp3 for my little brother, and you could use it as a memory stick too!
  • I got mine at the Bar Hill Tesco (near Cambridge) last night. It took a while to find them but when I did I saw about 150 of them!! It'll be great to use when I take the bus rather than take my good one and risk losing it or getting it stolen.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm sure Tescos won't argue if I have to take it back if it has problems. After all they are the supermarket that gives you your money back and you keep the goods if they fluff up with the pricing. I've used this policy several times ;-)

Got mine today, got the speakers as well, cant complain for under a tenner.

Didn't know what to expect as it was so cheap but I have to say I am very impressed. I just connected it up to the USB port, sent over some mp3 songs to it, just like moving a file from a place on a hard disc to another place, very simple.

Then I just pressed play and thats it, starts to play, when you want the next song you just press forward and it plays the next one etc. You can also put albums on it and it plays them in order also.

Very impressed for the price, nothing complicated - just the way I like it.

  • People keep griping about the number of songs you can get on there. I think this is always a problem with the estimated number - usually you don't notice so much as most people go for MP3 players with a huuuuuge memory so you don't realise that you haven't got anywhere near what the manufacturer reckons.

One thing I did notice though was that I looked at how much space I'd used it was 206MB with 30MB free - where's the other 20MB gone to??? Has anyone noticed something similar? Surely it shouldn't be marketed as 256MB if it is only 236MB??!!

It's the difference between a 1024byte kilobyte and a 1000byte kilobyte - that is storage manufacturers (HD and Optical disc) use 1000bytes for a kilobyte, whilst RAM (and everyone else) uses 1024bytes per kilobyte. see Here

Couple that with any system overheads the player has and 20meg out of 250meg is about right.
