So to cut out the bull; OP bought car doesn't like it and wants money back.

perhaps. If you want I can wait until you need a car and sell you the same one. I'll be kind enough to adapt the price to the age for you. But still, I'd sell it as good.

I'll read you on this forum then! ;)

If the door is a couple of cm's higher than the roof, surely this was obvious when you looked at it? when you test drove it, was there not a whistling noise from it?

It would be obvious if it's 20 cms, not if it's less than 5.
No whistling at the moment of driving. I found out later on that the sound insulation was not the best.. but again thought was because each model insulates you from the external noise more or less.

A door that was 2cm higher than the roof would stick out like a sore thumb - how could the OP have missed that if they had inspected the car prior to purchase?

I didn't measure it to the millimeter but you have to keep in consideration the conformation of the profile in the upper part of the door and the fact you look at it from the driver's perspective (if you're not an expert, I agree).

you won't notice it. You'd rather notice it if:
    - it is bent
    - you look from the passenger's side and compare the two doors.

Lesson learnt: don't trust dealers, look for symmetry, go to specsavers.

  • sounds like a poor repair from accident damage, the runners for the seat maybe sticking as a result of a bent seat chassis or car chassis, the seat belt inertia clip mabe damaged and they have removed the caution card from it if fitted, the door king pins door jam catch or pillar mabe out of alingment or king pins bent, the scraping window is probably a result of a bodge job inside the door for the mechanisms when they replaced the door the cracked interior door card is the extent of the doors past damage.
    >HPI HPI HPI< should verify any accident and any VIC markers set incase they didnt do one!!!

    Thank you for your post.

There's been a HPI check and the vehicle has not been written off in the past. I wonder how bad has to be an accident if even when need the door replaced, the back shock absorber replaced it's not written off..

then my bet is that someone crashed it solo accident prevent increase in premium and loss of NCB, a bodged private repair to rid the car was done

    yeah, makes sense.
Unluckily I can't do much about this now.. Will surely benefit in few years when (and if) I'll get another one.

I bet he don't - the whole story sounds complete rubbish:rotfl:

Doors are a complex shape and simply can't be fitted 2cm too high because of the shape of the body work either side, the hinges would not line up and there would be day light at the bottom. I don't think you need a cheack list to see something so obvious

OP still hasn't confirmed the make and model of car either

if I knew how I would do it.
