Just rang head office who said as it's a discontinued item they do not have to price match and they will only accept paper proof and will not call the store to confirm. Also it needs to be in stock :(

In my case at two stores they rang Tesco and the tabs were out of stock but they still price matched.
  • That would be great if you could, as I'm having major problems getting them to agree to it but know for sure they have several in stock and are willing to do price match if I can obtain proof.

Think you must have got the good stores as the ones I'm trying to deal with are not in any mood to help out.
  • Do you know if Curry's will price match Tesco even if your local Tesco doesn't stock laptops?

Went into currys today they said as p1000 was last year model and they no longer stocked it no go.
  • i notice one thing eveyrone has forgotten in all this furor, Staples dont have to do anything, its their policy! it isnt governed by any law, they manage the policy so can refuse whatever they like, and apparently they have been, there is little to no chance that Staples will price match you on an item they buy in at circa £190 for £149 and lose money because Tesco are being stupid with their prices, this isnt a price change by samsung, its by Tesco, there is no price protection for retailers unless Samsung drop the price and they haven't.

oh and also, Staples price match policy clearly states in the T&C's they dont match prices on Tablets,pc and laptops.

again Staples can refuse to price match anything.
no business would willingly sell an item for £149 and LOSE circa £200 just because another retailer decided to go a bit mental.

i dont blame Staples, if it were my business i would refuse aswell, its worth noting, its a "policy" and they can do whatever they want with it.

people can moan all they want, but you have no leg to stand on, and anything done is goodwill only, which there doesnt seem to be much about lately :)

Not much of a policy then if then if they just do what they want when they want, can't see much goodwill there either.

***Genuine Question, not trying to be smart ec

but wouldnt that breach some sort of trading standards rules - advertising something then not following through???
