reading over previous posts, it seems that a definitive example of a problem gambler is unlikely. However, i don't see what comparisons about banning alcohol, as some folks spend and drink more that they should, has to do with the OP?
Really? The OP has asserted that as gambling cannot be effectively regulated it should be banned. People have given the consumption of alcohol as an example of another addiction that cannot be effectively regulated and asked if the OP thinks the sale of alcohol should be banned.0 -

Is an addiction to alcohol not the same as an addiction to gambling?0 -

I (and many others) believe that euthanasia and cannabis should be legalised.0 -

The comparison is that it's arguing for the outright banning of a pleasure the vast majority of people can partake safely and sensibly to protect and remove all temptation from the small minority who can't.Competition wins: Where's Wally Goody Bag, Club badge branded football, Nivea for Men Goody Bag0 -

the example you gave was about a particular vulnerable adult you worked with. You gave details of his poor personal hygiene and his speech and writing ability, and then asked whether he should be refused entry to a bookmakers shop.
to which i answered No
you didnt mention his betting habits0 -
..........So we should totally ban the sale of alcohol because some people spend more and drink more than they should?michael1983l wrote: »Yes and I am a heavy dribker. So you made a judgment on half a story. How do you suggest that someone working in a bookies makes a judgment - should they ask each punter for their life story, or a diary of their spending habits for their past week?michael1983l wrote: »I cannot believe we are still arguing if the shops can identify a problem gambler or not, the gambling Commision by theeir own admission seem to believe that they can so are you saying they are wrong?
Please show us where they can identify a problem gambler.0 -
