I just want to say Good Luck to OP in this crusade! I'd say the behavior you exhibited is quite clearly 'problem gambling' and most should have been to trained staff, or even untrained staff, of a betting shop. Ploughing money into a slot machine at the rate you stated you were, clearly shows a problem with a person's mind set whether they be a millionaire or pauper.
If the OP had spent money at the same rate on races etc, then a bookmaker would have no reason to think anything, other than the usual punter making some bets.
The OP's problem also relates to online gambling also, where people much get into all sorts of problems spending much money in such little time playing slot machines. Also may i add that a lot of psychology goes into designing and making these machines. All designed to have you spend as much time, therefore money, with your eyes glued to the spinning reels.

Thank you for seeing beyond the black and white and usual steriotypes of gamblers.

Good grief. I don't think anyone here has a negative stereotype of a gambler. At least a couple of people who have posted, myself included, have gambled or do gamble on occasion.

You can read can't you, it is clearly because the regulation in place does not actually mean anything substancial due to its wording. Do you truely believe that no bookmaker has never taken money from somebody they have suspected as having a problem. You seriously cannot believe that..... Can you?

This all goes back to the question you are not able to answer - what does a person with a problem look like? What do you do if said person denies they have a problem?

To give some context, I have experience of working with vulnerable adults. In particular, one man has poor speech and his handwriting is so poor that someone has to complete forms for him. Physically he is unkempt and pretty smelly. If he entered a bookmakers, should he be turned away?

Further loans and current credit cards and payday loans.

further loans was when my credit file was still in order despite over egged borrowing in accordance to salary.

Already had credit cards but maxed all 5 out on gambling

Payday loans, will be leant to anybody.

does that answer your question satisfactorarily?

...and you really do think the problem is with the Bookie? Maybe you should start a crusade against those who lent you money when you were facing bankruptcy?

If Bookie A had banned you if as you say it was an addiction I suspect you would have moved on to Bookie B, C, D, E, F, G...I think you said there were 7 within a half mile?

Yes I did...but there's no proof they the Bookie thought you had a problem is there Y/N?

Well, No. Why should he? Problem gambling isn't defined by personal hygiene or speech and writing abilities, is it?

If it can't be defined, it can't be regulated, if it can't be regulated, it should not be legal. Simples really.

I think it would be quite obvious to anyone and should have been to bookmaker's staff
