By the powers of the internet combined with my personal delusions of super-human abilities.... I have bitten your BD REALLY HARD back. What with euronorris kicking it in the nuts you should find you are no longer pestered.
When you feel able, could I ask for your nut loaf recipe please? I'm a veggie - with occasional fish-eating - I think the term is 'pescitarian' but then I've been called many things over the years :rotfl:

Been to Mr. Ms and the nice lady was yelow-stickering 'takeaway' curries to 19p. Picked up 2 Indian ones (not vindaloo, which there was lots of), then picked up the 3 chinese curries, askied nicely if they were going to go to 19p and if so could I have 2 please - so she put them in my hand, by passing the crowd that had gathered;) she offered me all 3 but I'm not greedy :rotfl: they are freezable so in the freezer now. DS has announced he wont eat them (he will but they will have been decanted into a casserole first. He eats FAR more leftovers than he thinks;)).

Evening! Been to Brighton for a night for a gig so not much flying done
And I'm on a course for 3 days in the middle of the week so not much will get done until Thurs or Fri!
I'm currently trying to plan 3 days work for my class who will be mostly covered by a Key Stage 4 teacher who never comes down to our end of the school, doesn't know any of the children and is, in his own words, 'bricking it'!!
I'm not sure I'll want them back on Friday!!!
LW - shhhooooooo BDAnd, not sure if it's useful, but I buy the Weightwatchers jelly crystals in most supermarkets as they're suitable for veggies x
adamantine - hugs x
serena - hello!

you need:
One onion, diced small.
A couple of cloves of garlic, crushed (optional)
Butter (about an ounce)
A dessertspoon or thereabouts of plain flour
A good sploosh of milk
2 large eggs
13 oz of whatever nuts you have to hand - I use a mixture of almonds, walnuts, cashews and Brazils, in roughly equal quantities
7 oz (approx 6 slices) wholemeal bread
2 oz of strong Cheddar cheese (more if you like it very cheesey)
A teaspoon or thereabouts of mixed herbs
Grease and line a 2 lb loaf tin with greaseproof paper.
Melt the butter in a large saucepan, add the onion and garlic (if used), and fry for about 3 or 4 minutes.
Remove from heat, add flour, add a little milk, return to a low heat and add more milk, stirring til the mix is about the consistency of a thick sauce.
Remove from heat and leave to cool.
Meanwhile, blitz the bread and nuts in the food processor, and grate the cheese; mix these all together, with the herbs.
Once the onion/flour/milk mix is cool, beat in the eggs.
Mix in the nuts and other dry ingredients. (This is why you use a large saucepan!)
Transfer all to your prepared loaf tin, pressing it down into the corners, and making sure the top is even.
Note: you can do up to this point on Day 1, keep it in the fridge overnight, and bake it on Day 2 if this is more convenient - I often do this, as I like to make full use of the oven if I'm switching it on, but can't stand and prepare too many things all on one day because I get too tired.
Bake at 180 C for 40-45 minutes.
It will slice hot or cold; I slice this size of loaf into 8 pieces. It freezes well, but do put a sliver of greaseproof paper between the slices before putting in the freezer.
Serving suggestions:
I either serve with roast root veggies and Marmite gravy, or else with rice and sweet'n'sour sauce and pineapple chunks.
Enjoy!

DS has a real 'thing' about leftovers & whoopsied stuff. No clue why, but it doesn't half make me creative. The simplest trick is a reappearance of stew - but the encore comes with DUMPLINGS:rotfl:
