You give the V5c to the scrap man, so what are you going to give him?
  • He says he doesn't need it.

Bit of a dodgy scrap man then!
  • I rang about 5 companies today (not 1 man bands) who all said as long as I give photocopy of driving licence or passport that they would take it wthout V5.

Or I could give him the V5 then send off Part 9 with a note infoming them of my new address for future correspondence.

Good, sounds like you have finally got it all sorted.

You are legal for SORN where you are, as long as it is a carpark separate from the highway. Anyone who thinks otherwise can quote the relevant law because they will be talking rubbish.

You are not legal for insurance and MOT where you are but as it will be gone in a day or 2 it's not going to be a problem. Much better where it is than on the highway.

Remember to be 100% safe keep your email SORN confirmation, they can send you a fine in 3 months time and you will need the email as proof that it was SORNed on time. And to tell them where they can stick their tax renewal fine.

Similar story with the selling to a motor trader, retain part 9 and send it to DVLA to inform them you have sold to a trader. Their confirmation letter will go to your old address, you could ask the old address to keep all post for you over the next 4 - 6 weeks. Or you could phone the DVLA in 4 weeks time to check they have recieved the notice of transfer of ownership.
And at this time you could mention that you have now changed address and could they send you another confirmation to your new address?
