Can anyone help me. I have just changed service provider, from Tesco to Sky. I had no problem getting a MAC code and my activation date was 23rd January. The problem I now have is Tesco now want to charge me from my activation date to 12th February (which is when the MAC code expiry date is). Can they do this or can I argue this out with them?0

Hi.
When my partner moved out last August she left her Orange livebox, and we changed the banking details over so that I could continue using it.
At that time she was still in the contract period, but that lapsed in November.
So I have internet access using her details with the payments coming from my bank,.
My question is:
Can I get a MAC from Orange, or would she need to get it? (The BT phone line is mine btw)
Also, has anyone been outside of the contract period and managed to get a good deal from Orange to stay? although I suppose I would become a new customer to them.
I would be interested if anyone else has been in the same situation. :silenced:0 -
I asked for a mac code from pipex today, but pipex apparently "don't do that on weekends"!
I've got to wait until monday and dial an 0871 number(!) and then wait days before i can get rid of this headache!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I tried to get one from Orange a few hours ago. They said that they would email me it.
Rather suspiciously I can now no longer get access to the email account.
Surely they wouldn't???????????£2 coin/ £460 -
I phoned AOL today to get my mac code to be told they had upped my BB plan to platinum in august last year (without me asking) and that if i wanted my mac code i would have to pay the remaining contract of nearly £330!!

I asked for my MAC 27/02/08.
They cancelled me instead. No chance of a few hours without B'Band more like a few weeks.
Grrrr. I know the REP heard what I said. And he said it would be emailed.
THey have done this on PURPOSE!!!0 -

You need to have very strong words with AOL. Get on the phone to a manager and follow it up in writing (take someone's name and address to make sure it gets there). I fear the result maybe you have to stick out the contract or pay up. But it's worth a shot.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. as posted elsewhere, im thinking of moving to o2 broadband. spoke to virgin media the other day when cancelling and i was told that i dont need the MAC code as virgin media is done via cable and not a telephone line. if i am to sign up with o2 am i going to need to get the code?. did virgin media just fob me off?0

Nope, VM is via cable, O2 via telephone line, as long as you have a BT type line installed you are ok.0

I asked BT for the MAC I am entitled to and they kept saying that their system was down. Funnily enough, when you know the rules and you quote them.... "Ofcom says you have to give me the MAC address, shall I contact them today?" --- suddenly the system is up and running again.
I wanted my MAC so I could quit BT if they ran their third trial of Phorm's customer spying system where they profile internet usage like they did secretly in 2006 & 7 with thousands of customers. Good to see the police are now finally looking into this and interviewed BT on Tuesday aparently.
They take the michael and we all need to be aware of our rights.0
