I never knew vampires lived in their parents' living rooms... you learn something every day.

From the sound of him you might end up there too if all worked out.

So maybe not... it's good for the ego to be asked out though. :) I doubt you're a commitment phobe, you just haven't happened on someone sufficiently appealing yet. Perhaps you will be asked out by a nice border guard on the way to your holiday (that happened to my Mum!)

  • hi everyone, been busy lately just doing away nothing exciting so didnt have much to write.

I have become addicted to 24, never seen it before and had bought the first 5 series on ebay for £3 each. Bargain considering i'd seen them in HMV for £35 each. I could never justify paying that for a dvd set, though i own hundreds of them, am a film buff but wanted something to get my teeth into. I have spent the whole weekend watching the first series and am watching the last episode as i write this. Immense, not sure why i haven't seen this before.

ANyway, i have managed to save up £1100 come pay day on Tuesday and am going to put that to the side as my son and I are going to save up to go to Cuba at the end of June.
I think I can probably get a deal for around £8-900 each. It is very dear but is 2 weeks all inclusive and i think we both deserve a decent holiday after the horrific year we have had, so Im aiming to have saved enough by the end of May.

I know this goes against MSE but I have spent the last year and a half scrimping on everything, and we won;t be going on any other trips this year.Oh hell,

Regards to the vampire, I have blown that one out. He came in the pub on friday and wanted to meet up afterwards, I said ok then he didnt text back. Ended up texting me at 3am asking if I could come and pick him up as he didn't want to get a taxi or wake up his dad.
    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

This is the reason I won't go out with a guy who doesn't have a car. Its nothing to do with snobbery, which is what one of my friends thought.

    How is everyone else ?

Reminds me of a card I once saw: the Dad answers the phone and it's his daughter. 'Dad, can you pick me up? I'm on the moon!'

I think you're better off out of that one by the sound of it!

A holiday in Cuba sounds amazing, I think you deserve something really nice and that will be memorable. Having saved for it I don't think you should worry at all about it not being MSE. After all the site as a whole is about getting the best deals rather than not spending it. And as my DH says, they can't take experience away from you. The holiday will give you wonderful memories as well as a healthy dose of Vitamin D. :D

All okay here, thanks - nothing dramatic going on in miggy-land though I will confess to DH and I having booked a couple of days away next week which I'm really looking forward to. We never normally get away apart from holidays (a week once a year) so this is a treat. :)

  • Hi Hadahardyear  I've been sat up in bed (its almost 1am) reading your thread from beginning to end :p and I have to say, the person who mentioned creamed cheese and salmon has a lot to answer for! lol - I'm sat here wanting some and there is none in the house mwah! I know what I am going to be picking up from the shops tomorrow :D

Sorry to hear about the loss of your brother and congratulations on the weight loss so far, you're doing geat. The holiday in Cuba sounds fabulous, I speak Latin-American Spanish as a second language so would love to visit there one day.

Hope your day is good tomorrow x

Keep Smiling :grouphug: (that group hug is a bit dodgy looking isn't it lol)
  • hi guys, hey suburban wifey, thanks for your kinds words. Sorry to say the weight hasnt budged for weeks but i am back on the wagon, with renewed gusto.

Been pricing up Cuba today and a friend of mine opened a travel agent and has given me a price of £810 each, from Manchester. So i think I am going to go with this, it';s by far the best deal,

All the other places quoted me about £1200- 1300.:eek::eek::eek:

So i think im going to speak to work tomorrow and wangle a few extra days off. if thats a goer, Ill be booking tomorrow.
My son (who has recently got a mohican and text his dad, who's reply was "does your mother know) haha, wants to join me in trying to lose weight, so we both have something to aim for.

If anyone wants to see the hotel, we have 2 to choose from, they are the same price. Let me know what you think asap, before i book tomorrow.
    Both have great reviews.

    Evening hadahardyear

I would personally choose Sirenis Playa Turquesa as It looks and sounds the nicer of the two. I have never been to Cuba but it is somewhere I would like to go.

Good luck with everything else and take care.

bit of advice, i want to get my son an underwater camera for his birthday in May and was going to wait until may but I have a £10 off voucher for Very that runs out next week, and the deal on the camera is £69, so would be £59.

Tesco do this same camera for £78.
should i wait or get it now x

Get it now! My hubby wanted a Bear Grylis down gilet for his birthday in April. An offer came through email for Uttings selling this at less than half price ... I didn't want to buy it now but would have been madness to wait until nearer April and pay 150 pounds when I could get it for half price in March. Simples.
