HELP!!! Phone used 5.58 GB in 16 Hours!!

Got a shock when I checked my credit on my phone. E-mailed giffgaff who informed me that my phone had managed to use 5.58 GB of internet!

I have no idea how this could of happened, I dont even remember using the internet at that time. My usual usage is 54.02MB for the month! I can not understand how my phone used 106 months with my usual usage in 16 hours! Have e-mail them and they say that the charges on your account are correct.

Any Idea?

Are you sure about the total? It would require a huge amount of credit to pay for that (about £1000).

I thought Giffgaff was so cheap that it does not matter how much data is used :rolleyes:
what handset is it and have you got the app set to update ?

Yeah that was the e-mail that giffgaff sent me with the internet usage! Was amazed when I saw it! Can't understand how it downloaded the equivalent to 1440 songs in 16 hours!

Haha nahh, its an iPhone 3GS but i never have it on 3G. Only updates apps when I plug it into my laptop.

No not at all, dont do any internet tethering on my iphone at all. Still cant understand how it could happen.

Can an iPhone even download that much?

I've downloaded 3Gbs or so of movies in a few hours tethering my phone to my netbook before..

But there should be some clue as to what your iPhone actually downloaded, don't really see how you could do this accidentally.

That looks like about 47meg to me
if you put the ip address into google then it comes up with zoosk.

couple of questions to ask the op

1. From what i can gather you are claiming you are 3g? Are you sure it was not a wi-fi connection seems odd with a ip addy you provided.
2. the ip does point to voosk or whatever that site is called(other poster is right) But very hard to determind that required considerating its less them 100mb of connection for pages to load up, Mobile sites usally load faster unless the site has flash added ect which could be the reason for larger downloads, i would contact Gif gaf or whatever there called and ask for a actural breakdown of used bandwith from your 3g to be sure you quoted the right amount.

Had a look at my history on my iPhone and my laptop, never been on Zoosk, didn't even know what it was in till i googled it!

When i plug it into my laptop it is only to upload music and apps never anything else. Dont even charge my iPhone in it!

Never have 3g turned on and only get 2-3 bars for my phone signal at my flat where my phone was at this time.

Any tips for the e-mail. Already e-mail them and asked for them to phone me but they are not helping at all. Explained to them that i am hardly ever on the internet.

I'm afraid that there isn't a published contact number for giffgaff. If you start with "ask and agent" then, once you have a reply from a specific agent, you can communicate with them via pm either from within support on the community forum.
