    Sorry I forgot who asked me about fleece dressing gowns and I mentioned Factory Outlet having them but today I was in Peacocks and they have them too...

    Also today in the same store I managed to find thermal socks(£5)actually cheaper than the last pair I purchased. A pair of gloves(with fingers, dark grey)and a pair(without fingers, light grey)

    Both thermal and £4.50 each. A trouser belt £4.50 and finally and this is what I was undecided about but it wasn't badly priced, it looks OK and I think it will keep me warm. A Gilet in black(£15)Quilted fabric.

    If it never gets used I haven't spent much but it could be handy on those days where there is a chill in the air.

    But if you are looking for stocking fillers for Christmas or items to keep warm there's another place to buy them from...

    Yey, Mrs_Doom has come out to play! You'll not fit that lot in your underground shelter ;):p

    I think the shelter needs an extension. Still at least planning permission won't be a problem now.:D
  • Wish me luck, I am bidding on a long coat and it ends soon, it's the second one today I have tried to win, I've only got a short jacket that fits, I'm so underclothed lol!

    Mrs Doom bubble wrap and tea lights, bubble wrap and tea lights... ;)

    Has everyone got this bad weather? It has not stopped today but I have noticed some draughts from underneath the window sils (one is on top of another). I get my child benefit this week so going to spend it what else we need.

    I've managed to identify some draughts too. Going to use flat pillow inners rolled up and tacked into position... if it works.

    Also identified the need for a waterproof handbag. Going to have to put the contents in a carrier bag tomorrow until I can figure a solution. I bet it's more the case of saving for a solution though.

    Yes it's horrible here too. most of the country has had it or are going to. So early in the season.

    Good luck on the coat!

    Thanks, I am desperate :o I hate wrapping up though, the least I can get away with the better normally, I feel claustrophobic otherwise.

    at the risk of repeating Mrs Doom's list :)

    my winter prep is as follows:

    * secure downpipe from gutter (need a dry day and next door's ladders on a weekend......)
    * clear gutters at the same time.
    * find some way of insulating outside pipes (or get a plumber to install a shut-off valve inside - depends on cash).
    * bleed and balance radiators.
    * reseal kitchen floor (needs kid-free weekend day)
    * borrow sander to get lounge doors to close
    * hang winter curtains
    * sew blind for kitchen
    * work out how to hang hm blinds in the lounge (and then hang).
    * put winter rugs down.
    *seal as many holes as I can to prevent the slugs coming in!!

    I've splashed out £15 on some sheepskin boots for myself as slippers (bought very cheap ones last year that disintegrated within weeks, tripping me up and ending up injuring my knee).

    *Car has service and MOT in nov, and winter tyres will go on then.

    not quite bunker mentality and minimum spends hopefully.
    :AA/give up smoking (done) :)
