Preparing for winter III

Thanks for the suggestions. I was actually considering the electric blanket. I am one of those people who are always cold! But I was told electric blankets are not safe for children. So I am back to hot water bottles and fleece blankets.:p
I don't risk electric blankets with the boys as I've always been to worried about wet beds... DS1 was a sicky child, & DS2 still sometimes wets the bed, & sometimes sleeps in my bed, so sometimes its my bed he wets! DS1 is 16 so quite safe with a hot water bottle, DS2 is 9 & had only had 1 the past 3 or 4 years - he was certainly in school - & his has a thick cover & gets made a lot less hot than mine.
Ldl1 had unscented cherry stone bags in last week, so I got 1 to try out - it says you can heat in the microwave, oven (no more than 100 C) or on a heater. When I put the heater on in the airing cupboard, I'm going to try it in there.MarilynMonroe wrote: »Re bubble wrap, I noticed Asda sell it in rolls.
Wilkinsons do too, not great though, & so do Morrisons.
Well, I never got round to swapping my winter duvet back to the summer 1, cos as we all know, its got chiller... Will be sorting all the beds today for added warmth, with flannelette sheets under & over us & thick duvets. DS1 piles more fleeces on his bed each night, & I'll be using an idea I saw on here of tacking a fleece to his duvet at the bottom to keep his feet warm.
DS1 loved his fleecy sleep suits when he was little, but as I couldn't then get them once he was about 6, he's now rejecting the idea. He's better with cotton anyway. I saw men's pjs in Pr1mark the other day, but they're £10 each pair for long sleeved long legged cotton pjs. & they only had 1 pair in small, so I'm checking elsewhere till pay day.
DS2 has 3 pairs of warm pjs so will be fine till Christmas when he'll get some more, & I got 2 more pairs of fleecy pjs for me in the summer before Pr1mark put the prices up, so have 4 altogether.
We've all got fleecy dressing gowns though DS2's is 6-7 yrs, so I think that's another Christmas present. DS2 & I have our slipper boots from last year, but I want to get better ones & need to get some for DS1.0 -

Hoping to put the window film on in the bathroom and kitchen today too.Debt at LBM [strike]£17,544[/strike] £5700:TOver £14,000 PAID OFF :T
2020 the year of less - Less debt, less waste, less spending, less stuff, less stress!0 -
Aldi have tons of bed stuff worth having as specials from today and I could do with buying it all but that would mean spending at least £200(Duvets and mattress toppers etc...)so I'll probably regret it and end up spending nothing.
And hope that I can do it later in the year or next...I need to do at least two beds(double and single)but for anyone with spare cash or in need of items have a look at their latest leaflet on line..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I am on a megadiet, started beginning of month, 2 weeks hols and am still down 11lb, which I am chuffed to bits about. But therein lies my problem, will be getting smaller therefore clothes I have will be be getting bigger!
So what can I buy as it becomes necessary that will keep me warm, but at the same time see me through the next stage of loss? Got alot of weight to loseA smile costs little but creates much0 -

Well done on the weight loss, especially whilst on hols, you're doing really well :T
I'm wondering the same thing, I've lost 42 lbs but more to go and don't want to spend a lot on clothes in the size I am now. I thought a visit to T@sco or A@da to check on their cheap trousers, I'm told they can be as little as £6 a pair. Might also be worth a look for a decent top/sweater to wear out - I'm quite happy in my baggy t-shirts and sweaters for home, I'll elasticate trouser waistbands where I can to make them do a bit longer... don't throw the string away. You always need string!

It's a good point, I am between sizes, and hoping to drop another. Someone on here said just layer leggings under jeans etc which I think is a good plan, although I do want an outfit or two in case I go out. Which is rare, lol.Bossymoo

does anyone know if primark is doing the mens onesies again this year? don't care what style they are (animal, devil etc) but i thought i'd try their biggest size and see if it would fit me, i normally can't wear primark stuff as i'm to large a size but the mens onesies were massive looking. i'd have tried one on a few years back but my daughter was so tired by that point and it was so hot and stuffy in there i just wanted to get out
also does anyone know if primark sell fleecy dressing gowns preferably for men? my ex needs one, i suspect the ones for women if they have them are all feminine colours so not his cup of teai've been extolling to him the virtues of a long fleece dressing gown and slipper boots when at home to help keep the heating down on low and i think he's starting to listen, i'm shocked now we're not together it finally sinks in, go figure :rotfl:
