well i just got the big woolly cardie i ordered. so lookin forward to wearing it soon, organised some re-proofing spray ( found a wash in one and a spray one , but can't think which one was better last year). just sorted out the woolly and knee high socks to the drawer. Wondering if i should have a go at making welly socks ? just need to locate the thermals for a freshen up and find out if my winter boots can be re soled? they are bear paw so im not sure if integrated soles can be re done ? any ideas x

on the subject of milk ..........i would have needed a cow in my garden until i bought tescos everyday powdered milk, now dont get me wromg i DO NOT give my son this he is 9 just me and oh in our coffee/tea i have a made up bottle in fridge make up every morning, it smells "offish" from the minute you make it but it def not!!! a box which is quite large lasts me over a week so instead of 8x 2 liters a week which i was buying previously i down to 3 a week and box of powdered milk 1.20 ish saving 3.60/week thats £166.00 saving a year. my son drinks the REAL milk in cereal and smoothies etc, and me and oh also get our porrige out of this ,we eat a lot of calcium in cheese and yogurts so we not losing out hope this helps someone as milk was the bane of my life for years!!!!!!!

Found a new use for the flannelette sheets last night! It was so hot here all of us were struggling to sleep, duvet was too thick but nothing was too chilly so I pulled out the flannelette sheets and they were perfect!! Just light enough to take chill off without you getting to hot.

Is there nothing these £4 bad boys can't do!! :rotfl::rotfl:

Pips Mum, I agree with you, it was FAR too warm in Northampton last night! Mind you, it is already too hot for me today so I'll be staying indoors until the sun goes down... a shame as I love the sunshine but hate the heat!

The Irma were £1.59 a few days ago so it looks like they're just taking a penny hit... for now. I got them for 99p last year :(

Alice-Mary I had my coal and log stuff done about two weeks ago now and it took me a while to get it all stacked neatly into my log store but did it.

Today I have vaxxed the lounge and dining room carpets and also our bedroom carpet. The bedroom carpet was the WORST I have ever known it, the dogs have their beds in there but sometimes they like to get off their beds and slump on the carpet at the bottom of our bed so their oils in their coat comes out into the carpet. Luckily I bought the 1001 bottles from Poundland a few weeks back when they had them in ready for this task - Wilkinsons charge £2.99!!

The hallway carpet I am going to do tonight before we go to bed, that way it is drying overnight without anyone walking on it and by morning it will be dry. Washed the hall rug in the bath this morning - honestly it was bad. It didn't look too bad before it went in but I had to do seven rinses before the water came clean. It appalled me as I am very good at keeping my home clean, but the hallway is such a high foot traffic area!

Washed the dogs beds got those on the line, and I have done the heavy back door mat as well which needs allot of drying. Also done a dark wash out on the line so it all should be nice and dry ready to go by tonight.

Just been sorting through my gloves and scarves. I have put quite a few scarfs out for washing I will do those tomorrow. I am also going to wash the new flannelette sheets tomorrow as well get those dried and put away (did this last year and put them in bags and they were fine and fresh when I put them on the bed in October). I am trying to get as much done as I can as they are saying that the weather is going to turn back to rain and cold by the weekend again!! Trying to do it all while the sun shines.

Today's the day that the pillows, quilts etc get washed as the hottest day of the year is predicted, along with any random gloves scarves etc that I might have missed. (Must admit that it's the waterproof, rather than warm, coats that have had the wear this year. A good day to do 'washing and proofing' too)
Thanks for the tesco's value brand milk heads up. I always use dried milk in tea and prefer it actually. Years ago Weightwatchers told us that it contained more calcium than 'normal' milk and if we weren't going to use it in tea/ coffee to make it into little balls with water and peppermint essence and eat it that way so that we had it in one form or other... Don't know if it was hype but I don't think that it's done me any harm :)
