Preparing for winter III

Hi, I've not posted since last year however the horrible weather is making me check my winter prep.
We moved to a new house last December and it has had all new cavity wall insulation so I'm hoping for a cosy Winter. All barr one the floors are laminate which is a pain however the wee mans room has a rug in it and I'm on the lookout for one for my room. I have recently purchased a new bed (double instead of a super king) so I have been stocking up on bedding and a fleecy mattress protector.
I still have my shovels etc from last year and my Lakeland heated airer that I love!
My mum very kindly bought me Ugg boots for my birthday so at least this will keep my feet cosy - can anyone recommend a suede protector?
My main worry this year is going to college. Its a good 30 mins away and although it is easily accessible by motorway, its the motorway that closed 2 years ago. I'll have my LO in the car aswell (nursery on campus) so I hope to keep a 'car box' in case of emergency.
Need to make a comprehensive list so that I don't forget anything.0 -

just wanted to add my comment on dri buddys. i have one and its been a godsend since we had our baby. i dont have a tumble drier and it takes at least 4 days to get any clothes dry on a horse so i invested in a dri buddy. it is time consuming but does what its supposed to and gets my washing dry and smelling fresh. it also heats up the downstairs of our house and makes the house smell of washing. so pleased i got mine! Part of my ISME order arrrived today, I am really pleased with the flannelette sheets and pillowcases they are really soft and snuggly. Just popped them in the wash so they smell nice not packety and are ready for use. Mind you the weather here today is hideous and very wintery I might be tempted to put them on sooner rather than later!!
Instead of flannelette sheets I use fleecy blankets. I have various ones I got cheaply from Amazon a few yrs ago. They cover the kids matresses prefectly & I use a large one for DH & I. I find them warmer than flannelette sheets.0 -

hello everyone
I don't think I have posted here before but I pop in for a read now & then. I am usually a girl who likes to be prepared but you lot put me to shame:D.
the reason I am posting is I thought of this thread while browsing the Halfcost website & came across this-
https://www.halfcost.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=11&productId=80043&langId=-1&cache_entry=-1
there are no reviews & i have not seen them before so have no idea if they work. the website usually sells things that have been in the Kleeneeze catalogue so it's possible they have been sold through there in the past.
I have used the website a few times & have always been happy with the products & service. At the moment it is free p&p when you spend over £10 (ends 22nd July).
there is also a code for 5% off, it seems to have been working for years, I will bump the thread on the codes board as I don't think I am allowed to post it here.'there goes an old transexual, last seen heading south,
her friends call her Bernie but her real name is Ralph'

Thanks Pink, have ordered it along with a few other things, no harm in trying for that price. Thanks also for the code.

DS1 has not taken his flannelette sheets off this year (except for washing!) & DS2 & I have a mix of smooth cotton under sheets & flannelette over sheets at the moment.
What I do is what my mum used to do, & make the beds with a flat sheet to sleep on, & another to cover, with the duvet on top of that. Then, I change the under sheet & the pillow cases, & the top sheet moves down to a bottom sheet. So each week, I'm only washing & drying 1 sheet per bed & the pillow cases.Instead of flannelette sheets I use fleecy blankets. I have various ones I got cheaply from Amazon a few yrs ago. They cover the kids matresses prefectly & I use a large one for DH & I. I find them warmer than flannelette sheets.
I have thought about using fleece instead of sheets, but DS1 can only have cotton next to his skin. DS2 still has wet beds at times, so I pile the fleeces up on top of his as they're easier to wash & dry than his duvet.0
