Well I looked on Ebay this morning & bought DS a hot water bottle for £2.99 inc P&P. Saves me going out 13 miles to my nearest HB! Went out to football this morning & the rain was cold. No wind but the air had a wintry feel to it. Back home in my snug velour tracky from Primark!!! Kids watching Home Alone & I'm on the lappy with a cup of tea!

Just read on my local paper's site that the councils have stockpiled grit "incase of a severe winter"!!

    Morning all.

My carer came in this morning and said 'your house is so cold put some heating on' I told her it was staying off for a little while longer, but it was cold standing there in the nuddy, all wet!!! I'm sorely tempted.

Finished off the radiator reflectors for the outside wall ones. Bit fiddly but hopefully it will be worth doing. Might need another hot water bottle, which will be ebay again as HB and most other stores are 20 odd miles away. Ahh the rural life!

One of my friends has texted me this morning about going from IB to JSA. This has now panicked OH and we are now trying to budget for a possible drop in money. Was trying not to worry about it too much as it sets my MH issues off but I suppose I have to face it.

Keep prepping and stay warm in our fleecy blankets!
Edit to say AWWW Pigpen your daughter is gorgeous. I'm getting all gooey because I'm hoping that grand children may come along in the next couple of years.

Hello, I'm rubbish at anything curtains so just a question! Can you buy curtain rings that will attach to pleat-top curtain? We have a door curtain and only a basic pole - right now the pole is just through the tabbed top, but obviously this doesn't 'glide' very easily. What sort of rings do I need? Newbie question!!

Been doing lots of winterproofing today - foil behind the radiators and changed all the bedding to its winter version. We need to invest slightly in some winter-stuff for the car, but it's finding the dosh to do so...

Dont I know it... my oldest was 20 last week... it seem like yesterday he was new and pink and wonderful (he is big and smelly and lippy now!)

FFFRREEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGG in here today... blooming enormous house :( .. I love it but gosh it is cold!

Draught tape is doing a fabulous job on my bedroom window.. MUST get the doors and remaining 3 windows done.. and start saving for them to be double glazed next summer.

Dug the jumpers out of storage and dusted off my boots.. I think they will be needed later when I trot off to pick up DS3s prescription.

Just popping in to let anyone looking for a snow shovel for the car that Homebase have. It`s not a folding one but it comes in three sections, the shovel part and a two piece handle which slots easily together, £9.99. My one is now in the boot. They also had ice gripper things which fasten on to the front part of your boots for £4.99. Not sure how effective they will be but I`ll be giving them a go.

Hi all.. have finally caught up with you all after reading most of the other thread.. :D phew.. it was a lot of info to take in..

i have been putting off my winter prep because we should have been moving house (now going to happen in 5-6 weeks) and i didn't want to move anything extra, we've also been running our stocks down so that we don't have to move as much food.. got to say it makes me a little uncomfortable and i really hate not being able to buy stuff when i see it.:rotfl:i think i have issues :rotfl:

I've usually started and finished my xmas/winter shopping by now and started buying nice goodies for xmas... but this year i've just been stalling, so now i've decided i have to start or i'll go mad!

Went to HB this morning and bought some supplies for the cupboards and saw Moo UHT milk, that someone mentioned, for 55p.. got a few of them and will go back and get some more next week if we like it.

I have a wind up torch, candles and tealights from last year and this year i've bought some USB gloves and a snow shovel. Just have to get some salt for the paths (will be living on a main road so the road itself should be ok *fingers crossed*)

Fluffy-Muffin - if you have a Bodycare anywhere around you then they sell the glade candles for £1.69

Thanks for all your lists etc, they've given me some good ideas..

currently sitting here in my nice thick cardy, with my blanket and a warming cup of tea with the aroma of steak and kidney pudding cooking in the slow cooker for us teas...:T i love autumn..

Pigpen, your daughter is truly scrummy. Congratulations to you all xxxxx

Have to say Ive done not a lot all week. Not been feeling too bright, general aches and pains, sore throat blah blah. Nothing serious but on top of the general winter blues - Im having a pure yuk week.

TBh the only things that really need do is the finishing off the garden, finishing the painting, getting the plants indoors and general tidyup but its just torrential rain all week. The lawn is so wet I could turn it into a water garden.

And now I must also turn my mind to the christmas shopping, Pressies and treat food stuffs. Noticed the costcutter have some excellent prices on the tins of biscuits so will go find one and have a nosey when Im in town tomorrow. Luckily I dont have a lot to buy for and I have a stock pile of smellies that come in handy for pressies

I love the snow blower :) Im very lucky that the man opposite is an engineer and last year he made a snowplough from his drive on lawnmower and came and tested it on our drive. If he gets use of it this year Ill take pics and post
