Pigpen - Congratulations your daughter is beautiful.
It's Autumnal here today, damp and cloudy. October half term in a couple of weeks, this is the week we get all our gloves/hats/scarves/boots out etc and see what still fits/can be passed down and then purchase anything thats needed. I'm looking forward to it. It was really cold in bed last night, DH was on nights and my feet were sooo cold. I will get the hot water bottle out tonight and will hopefully get a better nights sleep.
Have a lovely day prepping.

Had to turn heating on last night and this morning as DD3, SIL & DGD1 here for a couple of nights, I am used to the cooler house but I cant expect them to be, they treated me to fish & chip supper though so only went £5 over GC, but devastated anyway as I was doing so well, hopefully next week I will acheive it.
Am progressing with my winter prep, I have hot water bottles, scarf and gloves ready but still need to look my wellies out and get stuff for car in case it snows, I did buy emergency sweets for the car but gave someone a lift to the airport and half have already gone!!!!
Need a cutain or blind for the kitchen window but not sure how to fit one, does anyone have any ideas for a cheap one with very simple fitting instructions? I have bought salt for ice and snow after reading about it on here, I usaully wait until it snows so this year I will be ready so thanks everyone who mentioned it. Also need to buy a snow shovel but havent seen any here, usually use a spade but its hard going on my sloping driveway.
Anyway off to shower and do weekly shop, I will buy at least one item to do with winter, either tin, shovel if I see one or something for Christmas, Thanks to everyone here as for the first time I have a few Christmas presents and nearly ready for winter, that is a first for me!!!!!!!!£1 a day 2025: £90.00/365 Xmas fund0 -

No heating on here yet, but DH had made a small log fire when I got home from work yesterday. Have to report the winter quilt is on the bed (because the dog was sick and it went through the dog-proof cover I put on, through the quilt cover and on to the quilt). Had to wash that lot last night and change the bed over. Saving flannelette sheets and under-quilt until it gets "proper" cold.
I thought I had done quite well with preps, but am now sadly behind. Must do this weekend - door curtain for porch, set winter salad etc. in greenhouse I cleared out last weekend, change sandals/boots and t.shirts/jumpers around etc. I washed all the winter stuff a bit back and put it away, so I now need to find it and put it in the wardrobes. That is alongside DD and 3 kids visiting Saturday (for several hours and dinner) and taking my Dad chestnutting on sunday morning if weather half way reasonable.
Gone very quickly from smug to panic as time seems to be going quicker than I am.
LOL, I've had the flannelette sheets on for a similar reason! DS2 wet my bed, soaking everything except 1 pillow, so I put the flannelette sheets & a blanket on rather than start with the winter duvet yet.

Gorgeous baby PigPen. My first grandaughter is now 9 weeks old. Aaaah, if only they could stay that young (minus the night feeds and dirty nappies, obviously)!Normal people worry me.0

Pigpen, she is gorgeous!
I have bought some piped icing halloween decorations and some skull bun cases for the fairycakes i'm going To make for the trick or treaters. They are so cute!! I've also switched the cat's litter over to World's Best (slightly more expensive) but we should get 45 days out of each 15kg bag AND we dont have so much litter to store! Yay for more space! I have had my flu jab this morning and i'm hoping to get to Mr T's to stock up on cold remedies.
My mom's OH bought our cat's two new fleeces so i might use two of our older fleeces to line my curtains cos it was rather nippy this morning! Was debt free then ex walked out and COVID hit.0 -

They switched the heating on at work on Friday (and it was indeed too warm as a result) but I was thinking of having one handy to fill up for the journey to/from work. It can take nearly 90 minutes on the train when all is well and, a few times, the train has simply come to a stop for up to 40 minutes with no heating when the weather has been particularly cold.
That's a great ideait's a 20 minute trek to the bus stop so I'm already frozen by the time I get there - some days last winter I ended up waiting nearly 2 hours for a bus to arrive:eek: ..... I do have one of the tiny hw bottles so it wouldn't be too heavy to add to the mountain of other stuff I have to lug with me (work clothes, shoes, flask, lunch etc)

Glad to hear it's going down well!:)
Well, it's horrible here ... wet, generally dreich and cold. I'm frozen for some reason - have plenty of layers on but to no effect as yet. Also woke up with a stuffy nose but no idea how I can have caught anything when I've not been out the house for 3 weeks:(. I may have to resort to putting the gas fire on for a wee while to take the chill off the house (usually only about 15 mins needed) as I really don't want the heating on yet.....Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
