Thanks Rainy-Days, OH loves them, even though he knows they're not good for him in the quantity (and frequency) that he eats themAnchor yourself to the foundations of everything you love.
Thank you to all those who post competitions!:beer:0 -
Kittie subscribes to Piers Corbyn's Waetheraction forecasts (insert jealous smiley) and they seem to be spot on. Interestingly he DIDN'T forecast a bad winter last year - and he suggests that James Madden is biased towards forecasting severe winters because of his connection with a company flogging winter tyres. I suspect it's rather to early to tell what this coming winter will be like.
However Piers does say that we are entering a longer period of Little Ice Age weather so it could well be that next winter will be cold - oh, joy!!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
My flannel PJ's have arrived, somewhat cute in a Kath Kid$on rose style. (first flannel pj's since being a kid!)
Ordered wellies and a hooded fleece from $ports Direct, for a total of £10. (See the grabbit forum)0 -
I am now the proud owner of one of these
http://www.worldofcamping.co.uk/fiam...et-888830-1002
a portapotty - I have asked about once a year on freecycle for years if anyone had one and did so yesterday and this time someone contacted me saying how they had a brand new one given when they bought a campervan, that had been sitting in the loft for two years. This is now safely in mine so just needs the chemicals ( well have ordered a more organic type) for it..........we for first time in all the eons I have lived here are on an Amber Flood alert so might find toilets get backwash and so need our portaloo.
Daft I know but am as happy as a pig in muck, as always wanted one, and to get a brand new one free and he threw in a couple of folding chairs in their carry case and a brand new unopened concertina water carrier as well I feel as if I have won prizes.
So something to tick off my want but never can justify expense for list of emergency items...........:))
Will be up in the village in the morning so will pop into the charity shops and see if they have anything I can add to my supplies - like lanterns or hopes against hope an oil lamp( I have kinda got a thing about them and collect them now)
Night night stay warm and safe where ever you resideNeed to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I am going to take the old insole out as it has seen better days and cut and fit the new one in. I have bought four bottles of the 1001 carpets cleaner machine liquid as I am going to be doing the carpets at some point. I also bought an insert carpet mat for the car footwell I wanted rubber but they haven't had any in for ages and my rubber one is starting to get holes in it now, so this will be a stop gap. I also bought the suede spray today as well and i will be getting on with those when we get a couple of nice days - at some point!!

I have read the Exacta Weather site this morning. James Madden is of the opinion that we will be in for a harsh winter and it will come earlier. Thing is, we kind of had this last year and I went all ruddy out. Okay the wind and rain which he forecast was a nightmare and does just as much damage but the snow never came until abut the first week of February this year stayed for a few days and that was it. DH only road (driveway) tested the snow shovel once I think he was disappointed! It is not going to stop me from preparing but I am not 'broadcasting' it to friends and family to the extent I did last year.
I am still living down my winter preps at work - they took the micky about my winter preps at the time, and I told them they would be sorry..... It didn't happenAt least I WAS prepared if it did!!! And hopefully this year I will be one up on them!!

I am pretty sure I remember Corbin (thru someone else) mentioning a seriously bad spell of weather and urging us all to be prepared for it.... Not only did it not happen, it was a very mild winter in many ways!
Even so, I would rather be prepared than not0 -
FUDDLE - I have a knee length waterproof and find it sheds water on to my jeans, so I invested in a pair of waterproof trousers which keep me dry as a bone. Only thing is I have to wear wellies to complete the ensemble as the trousers shed water on to trainers and you get wet feet. Get it right and you beat the elephants!!!!!!!!oh, sorry elements Cheers Lyn x.0

Fuddle... I have gaiters to wear with my walking boots and yaktrax... people think I'm mad wearing them in the village shop, but then I walk there in winter, with my rucksack, to do my shopping. It's only half a mile, and I can't justify driving that when I need the exercise!0

I found a fleece hat for DS on the sale rail in sainsburys yesterday. It was £1 as missing the scarf and mitts but we only needed the hat. It's very soft fleece that is shaped to come down over his ears and more importantly big enough!
Also got dd some ear muffs from home bargains, 79p. Sure we have another pair somewhere in case DS wants some. If not I'll wear them...
Need to find a home for my goodies...
I looked on sports direct but wasn't impressed. Still with the tots so young I have no idea what size they will want. And I don't think I need much.Bossymoo

Oh yakstrax, are they the ice things for shoes? Where would I get some of those? Do they do them for children?
I never thought of gaitors. They maybe cheaper than waterproof trousers. I'll look into it, thank you
I still have the girls earmuffs from last year too. If I can find some adult ones in Primark I'm going to pick some up for me. It's not a need but a want - because I think they're cute/fun and sometimes you just have to treat yourself0
