Hope you're soon feeling better Frugal. DH and I both started with it on Boxing Day one year and it was horrendous. We didn't get out of bed except for loo visits for at least 48 hours and wereen't fully recovered for well over a week.

Dunelm Mill have got some fleeces reduced to £3.49. Sizes aren't big enough for DD's windows but might do someone. They are 49" x 59" but are patterened so might not suit everyone for window lining-lol Also not the cheapest probably but you could get them now and know you have them iykwim.

I have an empty tension rod at my landing window. Have just hung a large fleece over, we'll see how long it stays up. It's a reasonable heavy one, doubled over because of the size. Nice and snug to the size of the window.

May save on stitching? If it works I'll try on a wider window - this one only 2 panels so 3-4 feet wide. Might suit my bathrooms too as easy to pop off and wash / dry if it gets all steamy...

Well my tension rod with the fleece is still up and I've noticed a huge difference on the landing, so that's an idea for winter. Going to check through all my fleeces and measure them to see if I can match to windows...

Thanks :) Isn't it dreadful? How long did you have it for? - DD and I have both hurled all over the bathroom floor on our way to the loo  DD is 6 so totally understand that but ME???!!! Then there is the body pain... all over... The most violent and forceful D&V bug I have ever experienced and I hope I never do again. I am 36 hrs in now and DD 48 hrs so we are starting to feel slightly better altho totally wrung out inside _pale_ We have both kept a few breadsticks down so will try toast and marmite next and if that is ok, some chicken this evening. I am STARVING!!!

It's really important to have some easy to prepare, simple food in for anybody who is unfortunate enough to get this during a spell of bad weather or a crisis.

I think it was about three days but I recall having a sore stomach for longer even on Christmas Day I still felt quite weak.

Once I had managed to keep dry toast down and stop it from purging from my bottom as well, I added things in such as homemade soup and a roll, but as I say I just did little and often. It's normally known as the winter vomiting bug!

Oh nearly forgot I had to ring the GP because towards the end I had green diahorrea - sorry if that is really graphic but just in case you do get this - and she told me not to worry it was only if I saw blood in it that I would need to take further action. HTH and as I say you are getting over the worst of it now so getting better is well in sight.

Yikes - Not got that so far thank goodness!

Seem to be feeling slightly better and have a little colour back in my cheeks! I was very grey yesterday.

As you say, usually known as winter vomiting bug so well worth everybody preparing for it, as much as you can... because it is pure hell and the more prepped you are, the better.

Remember to think about quantities when you are planning medicine stores etc.

I am in bed with norovirus atm and ran out of re-hydration sachets after a day with 2 of us needing them!

Frugal - very good advice. Hope you get well soon.

Can I ask for opinions please? I am looking at blackout thermal curtains for the bedroom. I have seen these in J Lewis:

    and these in D Mills

    http://www.dunelm-mill.com/shop/waters-and-noble-blue-solar-blackout-curtain-collection-143083

Are the D Mills likely to be just as good as the J Lewis ones or is it worth spending the extra?

All advice welcome, especially from anyone who already has either one?

    Thanks

Rosetta, I've always been pleased with the quality of the curtains I've bought from Dunelm but I've never bought 100% polyester ones from there. They do get good reviews though. I've never bought curtains online though as I always like to see and feel them in the flesh:o

Well, I have officially started! Have today purchased some instant mash, noodle/pasta cups and a tin of spaghetti bolognese. These are all things the children will eat. Just need to find a home for them. They were in the bottom of DS cupboard last year in nappy boxes lol.

I have made a little headway into my things to get. I have bought a pack of lambswool insoles for my slippers. I am going to take the old insole out as it has seen better days and cut and fit the new one in. I have bought four bottles of the 1001 carpets cleaner machine liquid as I am going to be doing the carpets at some point. I also bought an insert carpet mat for the car footwell I wanted rubber but they haven't had any in for ages and my rubber one is starting to get holes in it now, so this will be a stop gap. I also bought the suede spray today as well and i will be getting on with those when we get a couple of nice days - at some point!!

Lidl have the Branston baked beans 4 packs on today for £1.29. Might be of help to someone.

I have read the Exacta Weather site this morning. James Madden is of the opinion that we will be in for a harsh winter and it will come earlier. Thing is, we kind of had this last year and I went all ruddy out. Okay the wind and rain which he forecast was a nightmare and does just as much damage but the snow never came until abut the first week of February this year stayed for a few days and that was it. DH only road (driveway) tested the snow shovel once I think he was disappointed! It is not going to stop me from preparing but I am not 'broadcasting' it to friends and family to the extent I did last year.

That's the beauty of being part of being prepared threads. If it comes it comes, if it doesn't it doesn't... either way we'll b ready :);)

We didn't get any snow last year, or much rain even.

My MIL has a knee length padded coat that she can no longer get into. I'm going to have a look at it as I could do with something water resistant to my knees.
