i got so obsessed with preparing for winter that i somehow ended up with three snow shovels !!! gonna get rid of 2 of them on ebay as they have never been used

Perhaps it would be better to have two - one for the house and one for the car? I know I get fed up moving our one shovel between house and car, but sometimes the car gets frozen shut so if I just kept the shovel there it would get trapped:eek:

My preparations for winter this time need to focus on windows too. I think the french doors are coming apart. Very annoying as the house is < 10 years old. Need to see if there's some sealant I can use. Anyone else with experience of this? The doors are PVC and it seems the frame bits at the side are coming apart - I can see dried dollops of stuff that must have been used to put them together originally.

Pigpen I sympathise with the poorlies eating through your medecine stash as soon as its bought. I have medicine on every online shop and dread the day the supermarket think we've exceeded quota :rotfl:

Sun is out today for a change so I'm reminded that the next thing on my list should be cleaning duvets :(

    Happy Sunday everyone :)

I have just been given dark beige lined curtains! They're not wide enough for any windows per say but ideal for the front door :D They do have eyelet at the top, but a quick lop off the top of one and curtain heading attached it'll be ready to hang. :D Or I could get some net wire and just fold a seam to thread the wire through. That option might be cheaper. Anyway, project in the making... and a practical one at that. :)

Edit: 99p for 1metre of net wire purchased from ebay with hook and eyes. 25p for delivery. Very pleased.

dont use net wire.. get a length of bamboo or dowelling wire bends under the weight and looks scruffy and curtains don't slide over it whereas they do dowelling.

But you still need two in the house - you don't want to end up doing all the shovelling because you don't have a spare one for an assistant - unless you want to delegate completely of course in which only one shovel is a good excuse for you to watch and supervise :rotfl:

School uniform almost sorted for September. It is costing me a fortune though not as much as the last 2 years as the expensive one has left, so it is only a little complaint :p

Winter coats washed and put away ready for coldness

I've made a start on boots for everyone..

New windows booked for July.. :D

Seems a bit odd thinking of all this winter prep when it is 20'C outside!

Been into town 3 times to collect school uniform that i ordered online, and each time i come home without it - and 2 out of the 3 times its been written on my shopping list!

Going to go through my store cupboard tomorrow and see whats left - i had some bread mix which never got used - if out of date will it still work - tried it yesterday and it didnt rise much but not sure if its just my cooking?

it might be worth adding some fresh yeast as it doesn't rise well once older
