Preparing for winter III

The medicine cabinet has well and truly paid off. Some staff at work - including me - have come do with the dreaded nurovirus also known as the winter vomitng bug!
Whilst I have yet to be sick, I have felt quite queasy and I have had violent diaherrea, which at it's peak was coming every ten or so minutes. Thankfully, I am glad - if you can be pleased in a situation like this - that I have not been sick at all, because I will do anything not be sick as I pass out at the same time which is pretty dangerous. At the present I am just weak, I managed a bowl of tomato soup with a roll, but thats been about it - oh a dry piece of toast this morning. We still have the final food Christmas shop to do but we are going to leave that until tomorrow night to get that done. I don't want to be infecting anyone else and I know that this bug is highly infectious. Even droplets of breath can become airborne and someone could pick it up.
Other staff have said that they have felt "like death" through the sickness, which I can imagine would be utterly horrendous. I intend this Friday on the massive house clean that each door handle and all the kitchen and bathrooms will be washed down with a bleach solution. I am not fond of bleach but in the fight against bugs like this, it is a powerful weapon.
I hope you are all well and truly pray none of you have to have this.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

Get well soon Rainy-days and don't worry too much about Christmas preps. It'll come and go whether you're prepared or not you know!
Confuzzled, what can I say? I'm so glad that I asked about your outing. It gave us all an opportunity to pause and remember what the real spirit of Christmas is. Thanks so much and I hope that you and your family have a wonderful Christmas you deserve it!
:grouphug: Hugs all round!
I'm a bit concerned about Mardatha, haven't heard from you lately... everything ok? Just call me nosey...:oThe beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

aww bless Rainy Days, i really feel for you. when my daughter was 18 months old she caught it, then her dad (now my ex) caught it and sure enough, because i was looking after them i caught it. i started sleeping on the loo with an empty bin in front of me and lost 10lbs in two days
i wish you the best and hope for your sake it passes quickly, it's really nasty and i wouldn't even wish that on my worst enemy so i especially feel bad that someone as lovely as yourself has caught it.
keep drinking water (keeps you hydrated and gives you something to come up if it gets really bad) and know we all wish you a speedy recovery.0 -
I got a new laptop and a trying to work the bloody thing. be back soon LOL0

Don't forget re-hydration salts too... (I don't have any so its definately on my list after reading how poorly you are.
Its so easy to become de-hydrated and that makes you feel even worse... If you don't have the shop bought ones, a little salt and sugar in water/very weak juice does the same job... I have also been known to take a small amount of bicarb in water as it neutralises the acid in your stomach, which can really burn if you are sick
Hope anyone poorly makes a speedy recovery.
I don't envy you at all.0 -

oh no problem! i love mine, so easy to use i dump in the rice, water and seasonings and often frozen veg then seal it all up and shove it in the microwave. this is really good for cooking brown rice as i always have a problem with brown on the hob. usually i double the time for brown vs white rice and that does it. one thing i've never done yet with this is to overcook the rice :T
