  • Not good here today, it started with a promise so 2 washes done but we have already been out to rescue the flannet duvets and they are now on the heated airer in the bathroom. Snowflakes here and there and rain in flushes and very cold. Internet shop is due within the hour and space made so will be very grateful to have it in, even if not all that christmassy

I cannot find the satellite picture I saw last night, it looked evil, two great big swirls coming together. No wonder the met aren`t commiting themselves. I hope that it lessens in potential power and that it moves away from over the uk. The potential last night was for it to drive massive winds up the bristol channel and severn estuary. Very scary prospect. I am grateful to PC for all the data, even if we don`t get snow because I got my backside in gear nice and early and now it is all down to mother nature and the solar/lunar effects on the jetstream, which apparantly is all over the place at the moment

Horrible crashes on the M5/M40 last night, sudden hail and ice
  • Ooooh Bri-nylon sheets. I remember when I was young and I jumped into bed, then slid straight out the other side!
Weather her in Worcestershire has been OK. A few gusts of winds last night, but nothing spectacular, thank goodness, and it's fairly bright today, I might even get the towels on the line.
    Normal people worry me.
  • Morning all Preppers, Well we had terrible wind and woke up to gatherings of hailstones in the corners of the drive, so am guessing we had loads of hail and then rain washed most of it away.
Lights are flickering a lot this morning here in St Ives, but I can see the faintest blue sky trying to press through, maybe oh maybe it's gonna clear for an hours or so.
Am wondering if I should head to PZ( about 8 miles away) and purchase a single camping stove and gas, It will come in handy in the summer if not in the next few days.
Poor neighbour had a flat tyre for the second time this week and found her clad in heels(work clothes) trying to jack up her car and change the wheel in the icy wind, her pump died on her heating last night also and she had to have the plumber out, so needless to say she isn't feeling too festive! helped by holding things and cuppa until she was safely on her way and offered to collect the kids today should anything else go wrong!!! poor mite!
Am off work until tomorrow but am going to have a nip round to all my elderly clients and make sure they are all cozy and full of warm tea, plenty of Tbags, and milk in!!!
Stay warm and cozy all Pffffttt, the blue sky has now disappeared!!

Thanks for for that BB. I think last night was the worst we've ever had in 30 years. Since we got the new fire at end of Oct, it's been really windy all the time. The chickens are doing really well, still laying. Coop is facing east away from the winds so they are cosy.
Is very cold and raw here with wind still gusting now and then but not anything like as bad as yest. It snowed all day and well into last night, if it had been lying then we'd just have our eyes poking oot today :)
  • It was very windy here last night (Helensburgh) West coast of Scotland. I waited till 10.30 last night to put the bins out and about midnight had to go out again to rescue them as they were tipped over and rubbish blowing everywhere! It was peeing down with rain as well, felt I had to put them out as they weren't emptied 2 weeks ago due to strike by council and poor weather. Kept my 5 cats in in case they got blown away! It's all calm here at the moment and bins emptied OK,went out in pj's under my trousers and jacket early on to get them back in as they get left all over the place, forgot my gloves and I was frozen when I came in,mind you there was 5 bins out,I find I tend to recycle for my neighbours as well as my own! All youngsters who couldn't give a fig! Have to go out to chemist today to collect my prescription as if we get anymore bad weather I will be stuck without tablets.Glad I cancelled my new central heating system,it was due to start yesterday, couldn't face it so they will have to come later,I do have central heating but it's old like me but still working-like me!

They do that here, there are two ways out into city from our valley both include very steep hills, so when its really icy buses stop at the top of the hills. So you have to have to get a bus going in totally opposite way from city to another town as its more gentle a series of small hills and then pick up another couple of buses to get into city from that direction. Even if they do get round to gritting the hills they don't chance the buses.

Officially we are on gritting route but last one and last two winters they not got out as far as us before they had to go back and regrit roads further in, it was just cars going along that flattened snow and melted the ice eventually, I have some lovely photos of houses and road all white, actually sent one into council when on phone they told me they had been out and gritted road, but as it hadn't snowed after when they claimed they had my photo proved they were telling porkies.:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Then of course it was all the excuses - promised they would come out, still waiting :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

:D Nice one!!! Goodness knows why on earth they lied when you live there and have proof! :wall:

Highest waves on record off the coast of North of Ireland yesterday. That wind was sooooo scary - felt very nervous walking to and from town in case trees/xmas decorationsbuildings etc came tumbling down.

  • Bloomin' baltic here in Northampton, Accuweather says a real feel of -7 and i'd say that is about right. Not had any really bad weather, but we are forecast some for tomorrow and friday, mainly high winds i believe.

Will be glad when it is the school holidays and we don't have to go out if the weather is really bad. Just a big shop to do this weekend and then we'll be ready for Christmas. The Turkey and Pork have been ordered from our local butcher, so only the odd bits to get, and more loo roll! Only have about 4 rolls in the house at the moment! :rotfl:

Hope that all of you with wild weather atm are ok and keep safe in the winds/snow that are forecast in the next few days.

it's pretty calm here right now but very cold. last night was wild and we had hail in the early hours, loud enough to wake me up. must have lost electricity for a bit as when the hail woke me up it was pitch black, however i just did my business and went back to bed, figured i couldn't do anything about it and it was fine in the moring, doubt it was out long

the thundesnow sounds intriguing, wonder if we'll get any in fife. my daughter is now at the affronted stage, upset that we keep nearly getting snow but being passed by, the dusting we had at the beginning of the month is now more of a nasty tease than a pleasant surprise, poor thing :p
