How are you in the west doing? the wind here is seriously awful, worse than last week. Vicious terrific gusts slamming right on the windows. The noise is hellish.
its horrendous here too - i was going to venture out earlier in my chair but my friend called and made me stay put she went to asda for me - the wind is baltic - rain rain and more rain, sleet and gale force winds - I hope it settles by morning - I have also found that my patio door isnt fully sealing when shut so I have a draft - will need to tell the landlord.

be careful if you have to go out

Thank you everyone for the freecycle tips - I will certainly use them in my next attempt! I agree with the bit about sob stories - you just cant tell these days and although I do have my own prticular sob story (as do so many of us on here!) I think its a bit immoral using it to try to gain sympathy in this particular case. I do like a bit of sympathy from friends - real and virtual - preferably rounded off with a nice sensible nugget of advice and a cup of tea!!
Hope Our Friends in the North - have experienced the worst and things are calming down a bit now. Sounds very scary when you read the posts that come in quick succession describing it all. Here it is just 'windy' at the moment and very cold. This has not done my face/head any good and despite having a fleece around lower part of face almost all day, have a headache (bum)
I think I need to interline my front door curtain with fleece that is long enough to hold down with a draft excluder - but I think I will pin on rather than sew as old dog will enjoy peeing on it I just know!

All of a sudden it has gone eerily quiet here in cornwall, hardly any wind at all, can't hear anything from inside kitchen what so ever!!! Been like that for about an hour now!

Just spotted these if anyone is without them.... Sadly here in Cornwall the only reason I will need these is to grip feet to the ground with the wind, but hey ho, anything is better than falling you yer butt eh!!http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/snow-grips-ice-grips-anti-slip-snow-shoes-2-99-inc-postage-ebay-sourcing4u-1088861

Just ordered 2 pairs. I had seen some in a magazine at £19.99 for 2 pairs so this is a great bargain. DS says ta as well:T

Northamptonshire calling here - I went into the garden this afternoon and took down the wind chimes - they were beyond twinkling in fact they were clattering about making a complete racket. Last night I woke up listening to them and vowed they would be taken down today.

Answer from DH this morning - huh I didn't hear them
