You can always just freeze normal milk. If it's Homogenized you just need to shake it before use. I always have milk in the freezer.

less room for food then ;) only got a mini freezer .... i do a lot of batchcooking and get reduced bread and freeze it ... so ive always got a jam packed freezer.... youd be lucky to fit an extra ice cube in there at the moment :p

great idea though, ive only done it once before, i just get so paranoid because it seperates ... silly me

sorry i couldnt figure out how to do a double quote
i have arthritus too, and no nails glue is my lifesaver :) its not ideal for everything.... but i think that maybe the strips... think they are maybe £1-2 a pack ..think they would be ideal for your door brush :)

Another good 'question' I use in interviews is:

    Why is the position available?

Always good to know why...... But also, often puts them on the back foot trying to explain themselves!

I would use small tacks and hammer it on as the tacks would go into the wood easily without too much effort from your hands :D

I was thinking of doing that last night ...... might give it a bash now (good to know I'm not the only one who resorts to "odd" tactics to get the job done):D

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Got a sewing machine and wine making equipment for b'day presents so intend to get to grips with both hobbies over the winter....I'm really trying to be as self sufficient as possible. I will be made redundant at the end of next year from a really well paid job (45K) although luckily the mortgage will be paid off by then...might take this as an opportunity to escape the corporate world and associated carp (blue sky thinking, moving forward, thinking outside the box, appraisals, boring meetings, boring people, stress, deadlines etc...)..

Blimey itys freezing this morning! My new Karrimor winter coat is out & being road tested - so far so good - I was toasty taking the kids to school. Now off the look for some baselayers for the kids as football games are in chilly places!!!!

OMG, at the weather here today:eek: Strong winds, showers, torrential downpours, hail and brilliant sunshine.

Am so glad that my large delivery of wood arrived on Monday instead of today and was all put in our new log stores by Tuesday.

    Still no de-icer at HB.

Congratulations to Darkrev and good luck to all of those job hunting:)

Freezing rain and hail this morning in sunny Cumbria! Never mind, as my OH says, we're alive.

Have ordered another reflective windscreen from ebay (Can't get to pound shops) so I can finish off the outside wall radiators. OH put insulating tape round the doors and a couple of windows where there were drafts and have to admit it is a bit warmer in the house already. The house is only 4 years old and well insulated but it gets really cold, which I think is down to the tiles in the hall and kitchen floors and the laminate in the living room, oh and the teeny tiny radiator in the hall!

Went shopping yesterday and stocked up with UHT milk, which we use ordinarily. I reckon we now have 48 litre cartons to last us :D Most of the prep is now done for winter yay.

Have our daughter coming over for lunch later so OH is cracking on with macaroni cheese mmm. The dachshunds are under blankets aww. Best place to be.

    Keep warm everyone

    Lavandula,
I took voluntary redundancy two years ago and I haven't missed the City one bit! One of my colleagues was sure I'd be bored, but I knew I wouldn't be.
And I never have to talk about competencies again!!
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Yayyyyyy the chimney man came today, took out the old gas flue liner, changed the pot on the roof, swept the chimney and got it all ready! He was really nice and called a friend of his to see if he has a fire basket that I can have for a tenner as he knows I am on a really tight budget and he gave me a discount :j :money:

Potentially I could now light a fire, however, there is a cable from the old boiler  and we don't know if it is live or not - the gas plumber and the chimney man both 'reckon' it is dead so I asked if he would like to try cutting it back with a pair of scissors :rotfl: which he politely declined so really I am none the wiser if it is live or not :o (needless to say I wouldn't have let him cut the cable and wouldn't recommend anyone else do it either!)

Ohhhhhhhhhhh gawd I really wasn't born with an ounce of patience and I want to light a fire nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww :o
