The biobulbs are definitely working well and I have 7 unpacked and working now, three in table or standard lamps and 2 in ceiling fittings in and around the lounge and snug and 2 in bedside lamps upstairs so am lit by biobulbs until we sleep. I have been sleeping all through the night since day 1 with a biobulb, which is on the ceiling light in the snug, in which we sit all evening. 7 hours+ without waking and I was previously waking and having to get up between 2 and 4 every single day and the same goes for dh, he is now sleeping like a babe and no tossing and turning or waking for a pee. I have had to swap lampshades a couple of times ie the stringy metallic one has gone elsewhere because it makes the light too harsh and replaced with a creamy white silk one. I have just ordered another standard lamp and this time with a taupe square 35cm square shade. So far so good, those energy saver lights with a narrow spectrum were doing us no good at all.0

Turgin, many years ago, when I was a young teen, I couldn't think of anything I wanted for my birthday. So my Dad too a small bottle, filled it with water, made a cardboard box to fit it, made a label for both box and bottle which said 'Rain Cheque' and inserted a piece of paper which explained it could be exchanged at a later date for a mutually agreed gift. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

Raksha - what a hoot! what a sense of humour from your dad - I just love it! One year when I did have some money I put £30 in an enormous empty box along with a couple of small jingle bells, warpped it and put it under the tree for DS (this was when he was much younger and £30 meant a lot to him) - it caused great hilarity on Xmas day. This year I cant do that but the inventive ideas I have got here have really helped- THANK YOU EVERYONE!debt free 2021 at current DMP rate[/COLOR] (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0

Kittie, I'm going to get bio bulbs, for table lamps. Small Ikea white ceramic ones, I hope they fit. I seem to spend my whole life in gloom and semi-darkness in winter. Pure white car this morning took the RV ages to get into it for his doc appt. I supported him bravely from the livingroom window
Could I say its best not to leave the xmas food order to the last minute? Too easy for snow to ruin things. I have a plan B always that involves the freezer0 -
Sorry to hear that you have 'the white stuff' already Mardatha. We have ground frost, it gives you a bit of a mental push though, doesn't it!:)The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Please and Thank You are the magic words;)0 -
Pipes exposed when the electrician took up a floorboard are now lagged as far as I can manage, which means I don't have worry about them when he nails the board back down. Had to buy some more pipe laggin though (£4 but I have some left over) as I'd given most of it away thinking I didn't need anymore!0

I have offered to cook dinner on Sunday for family, only problem is I have no idea how many, it can be anything from 6-12, gulp! Best thing is that I have very little to actually do prep wise, as my freezer still has all the food I prepped for last Christmas day, which went horribly wrong because of the weather. So all I have to do on Sunday is actually peel the tatties & cook! There are even mince pies there
Best thing, I now have room to justify a vist to the C&C to fill up again!A smile costs little but creates much0 -
Managed to book my MrT slot for 22nd Dec - The days are being released one at a time here, ie yesterday you could only book up to 21st, today 22nd and so on. Tomorrow I will try to get the 23rd. Already got the 13th, and will get one between Xmas and New Year - if I plan it correctly I will not have to visit the SMs even once this festive season :j
We have the golden orb today :T altho the car was covered in a heavy frost earlier :eek:0 -
very cold today, 5 degrees and 87% humidity outside and I, trusting the met office, did two full sets of flannel bedding before light, which are now hanging limp and still. It`s going to be a nightmare getting them dry. I booked a delivery with waitrose on 22nd, knowing that I`ll chop and change my basket until the day before. They only had 2 spaces left. I am putting christmas treats in but am not holding my breath, they cancelled last year due to the snow.0
