Apparently on the 10th of December my HA want to rip my central heating out and replace it with a new boiler and radiators,I am a bit concerned what the weather may be like then! Not sure I want to go ahead with it as I have so much stuff to pack up,carpets have to come up as well and they say over 10 days to do it!
Not sure I trust them as when they did my kitchen and bathroom they took 6 weeks. My gas fire will also be removed so no back up then if heating goes off. Not sure I want it doing right now! Do you think I am daft?

no, i think THEY are daft! what do they think they're on about replacing things like this in winter? i can understand perhaps that they want to help you reduce your fuel costs but surely they could have done this earlier in the year, some people have no sense!
  • Well, first test of the winter - boiler pressure has decided to drop (and therefore we have no hot water), so I'm going to have to attempt to fix this now! Wondering whether to do it myself or just find the pressure...thingy for OH to do it when he gets home. Hmm. DIY stuff isn't my forte.

Considering it was August that they came to see me about it, I think they may have had a cancellation and nominated me as a replacement!
Think I will ring them and tell them to forget it for December as I have no family to help me out so they can go and annoy someone else! I feel bad about it as the other people had theirs done 6 years ago and they missed me out for some strange reason,my boiler is over 20 years old now and plays up from time to time, don't think they can find replacement parts for it now.

at least then I only got draughts, I didnt hear it ! Now its like living on the set of Scott of the Antartic with the wind keening and howling and shrieking... :rotfl:Plus the chimney, that whistles. :rotfl:

I agree with other comments on whistling, shouldn't be happening. My windows have night opening option, ie they can be locked, but there is a small opening to allow fresh air in. For the most part of the year, they are left like this, but if a bit draughty out, boy can it whistle through the place.

  • What I hate most is when my stash decides to have an independent avalanch at 2 in the morning, scary. I sometimes wonder if the tins have been stored long enough to have developed into a sentient life form Lyn
