Thanks to this thread I have already bubble wrapped windows but never thought of doors - how does it work - is it just the door -what about the frame - or is it door and frame separate but overlapping?
Thanks in advance.
Its a half glass door so covered the top half with bubble wrap and then the bottom as its not a very thick door and kitchen is always cold because of it. Next year I will save (haha, if I can) for a new door.
I haven't done the frame and all draughts are already sorted with foam tape.

Its beautiful here today - clearr blue skies and sunny temp 10. Dont think my body clock knows what the heck is going on. Nothing but gloom and depression on the radio so have turned to classic fm in desperation.
One good thing I have achieved over the last few days is sort out paperwork. I knw have an Iceland carrier (they are larger than most) filled with approx 12lbs of bills, old letters, contracts etc awaiting a good bonfire - maybe this afternoon! I feel quite liberated!debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -

You weighed your old paperwork?
:rotfl:0 -
Yep I did Frugal - I just had too when it got s full because I honestly feel as if Ive been lphysically ugging that weight around for years because I am so carp at it. My theory is that the seriously slimmed down 'office' will encourage me to do the stuff on time!debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0

lol!! I like it! I reckon I would lose several stone if I managed to get round to sorting my paperwork
Almost as difficult as trying to shift it from my body!!!
I wonder if either will get done next year?0 -
and my stupid letterbox is rattling
Depends on the letterbox style, but I use two small blobs of blutack to stop mine rattling.
The postie has no problems opening it as normal as its only blutack, but it does the job against strong winds. Occasionally I'll re-squish the tack.

This week I discovered my loft! I've been in the flat over a year, but when I first looked up there, ladder looked a bit dodgy (and I'm quite wary of lofts), so I only ever used a chair to shove my christmas bag in and never really saw it properly.
I had a proper look at the ladder the other day and realised it's fine, its just where it had been attached to the edge of the hatch and had ripped a strip of it off. Extended and locked properly, and positioned safely, it's perfectly fine, so up I went for a proper look.
It's huge! Has a good light and is 90% boarded (I wouldn't stand on the boards obviously, but great for stacking 'stuff') and seems very clean.
So far I have put my desk fan, old kettle, crash helmet and big box of the DD's toddler artwork up there. More to follow, which will mean more cupboard space for food/water/loo rolls0 -
LOL triticale - I love the idea of be wary of lofts - you do have to be careful when they creep up on you and theres nothing worse that meeting one in a dark alley!!!debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0

:D:D I'm wary of lofts meself, but ok as long as they know their place and stay innit! We had double glazing fitted this summer, by the HA. I was excited because I've never had it before, but its real disappointment. It's noisy and I found the old single glazing better tbh. We live at almost 1000ft so get a lot of gales etc but at least then I only got draughts, I didnt hear it ! Now its like living on the set of Scott of the Antartic with the wind keening and howling and shrieking... :rotfl:Plus the chimney, that whistles. :rotfl:

Surely there must be some fault with the windows-mardy they are most def. NOT supposed to wail - its not those dreadful trickle vents is it? Yous should at least tell the HA because they might give the fitters a nudge to come and check it for you.
Dont have any ideas to help with a whistling chimney - maybe accompanying on the guitar - eat your heart out Roger Whittaker!debt free 2021 at current DMP rate (probably be in an old peoples home by then)0 -
Afternoon ladies, do I live in the oddest place in england. This afternoon when walking the lurcher we say fully open daffs, some primroses and a camellia bush covered in blooms, I have even got apple blossom on my tree. Now I am in the south of hampshire but has anyone else seen oddities like these, given that it is December tomorrow.0
