My cupboard is so stocked with tins for winter that when I opened it they all fell out on me :embarasse

:rotfl: guess it's a sign that you've got enough!

shirleymayre, i'd ask for them to do it another time too. that really is... ridiculous to want to do it then!

    Hi!

    Im really cold today!
My living room is 16 which should be plenty warm enough but it feels much colder.
our friend is supposed to be replacing 3 windows for us as they have blown and are now single glazing but he is taking forever, i dont want to say anything because he is doing it free of charge and is so lovely but i really hopes he is able to do it before the cold really kicks in because i refuse to have my heating on when it will just be wasted!
i havent managed to get any hot water bottles either!

I still want snow though! Ive read a couple of things now saying it will be the 10th mildest winter since records began (main one was on BBC) part of me is happy because it will save some pennies but i just cant get into christmas without any frost or snow!!!

Im dreading the gas/electricity bill after this winter as ive needed more lights on and had to use the tumble dryer once a week to dry bedding/towels etc as we literally have nowhere to hang it - we hang our clothes on a curtain rail and on radiators etc.
    the house is very damp.

someone on freecycle was offering an electric heater i didnt know if that would be cost efficient for warming up the downstairs?

Did you see The Frozen Planet last night, now that was a cold place to be living! Poor little kids having to have their bottom of their sleeves sewn up otherwise they would lose their hands very quicky to frostbite. Mind you, they looked really toastie!
A smile costs little but creates much :)

For those who love stocking up on candles GLADE scented ones are on offer in Tesco - buy 1 get 2 free. £4 each so 3 for £4 is a bargain! Came home with 6 - to add to my secret stash of 14!

So if you do have a power cut your house will smell nice too!

latest: snow is still on target. Heavy scotland about 7th ish, 16th ish heavy N and sc, 20th+ snow all over, 22+ heavy snow e + sc + midlands -11, snow to 28 all over then v mild suddenly. Let`s just say that i am arranging christmas visits around 29th and my hairdressing appointment on 13th and re the sudden rise in temperature my view is to watch for floods but that is only my personal view re the melting snow

re candles, I have 2 yankees burning now and they give off a nice amount of warmth but they are in a big room. I find that burning candles in our tiny snug makes the air `dead`. I have a cupboard full and am wanting to make room for more food stashing next year as it is the coolest room in the house and I want to store more of my preserves there

Thanks so much for this (what is sc?)

im worried now because hubby is supposed to be taking the inlaws to brother in laws for christmas (our first christmas alone in 7 years) if this is going to happen then they wont be going anywhere! Maybe i should tell her to get some food in the freezer just incase.

a white christmas though? im not holding my hopes up as i dont think we have had one in my entire existence but if we do ... almost all my dreams will come true!!!!!

sc= scotland. I had to write in shorthand but I think most will know what I mean ;) . 80% certainty overall.

re food chirpy, my freezer already has christmas food in it, I was caught short last year

    Thanks for clarifying for me.

Our food shop is set to be delivered on 22nd :S

I think im going to go and do it next week to be on the safe side!

    im excited though!!!!

But very grateful for the advance warning so i can make sure the inlaws and my grandparents are prepared.

    thanks again!

Do we know if its supposed to be a lot again? (in the south east) or if it will just be a sprinkle?

I've just done my Christmas food shop!:rotfl:

I work for MrS, and the discount has doubled for a couple of days, so I did a massive shop, just the lunchtime joint, veggies and usual household stuff to get. I did have a mild panic when the checkout lady asked if I realised it was nearing £300:eek:, but but the time the wine discounts the staff discount and my nectar points all came off it was just under the £100 mark. Phew!!:T

I also included a stash of tin tomatoes, soup and baking bits to put away just in case it gets too bad.

Should I tell you I've finished my Christmas shopping as well?:o
