I've discovered something that cannot be planned for in winter...........

4yr old dd breaking her ankle . Crutches and exposed toes do not go well with either ice or snow. We have been lent a wheelchair by a friend for the Xmas parties and Panto we are going to, but not sure if the snowboots I bought were a good or bad thing now.

Please no snow between now and Xmas. Bigger tights and thermals now required. :(
If you dont want it - dont waste it - Freecycle it!

Best thing I found for covering toes is thick big real wool socks - they keep the warmth in and are actually fairly waterproof - so I used to have one thinner pure wool over foot, then going out a much bigger really, really thick one over. As pure a wool as can be that way it still has lots of the oil still in it which repels the wet. Does keep the tooties nice and snug as well.

Poor little thing, not much fun not being able to run around, but bet she will be an expert on the crutches doing things you would never believe soon, kids usually do ;)
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

What a temperature difference in Kent today! I love this proper cold weather, it feels much more refreshing and like its actually going to kill a few germs off.

Had our solar panels fitted today, they finished about half hour ago and even though it's thick cloud and getting dark we're generating 370w.....every little helps!

The solar chaps also (at our request) left two pallets and all the cardboard stacked in the garage, so not only free electricity but free firewood and wire lights too!!

Taking DDs to Disneyland in the very early hours of tomorrow morning so pray for some dry weather for me....we're there from park opening until 7pm so a long old day if it's raining.

YAHOOOOO..... I have acquired a remnant of carpet from a fabulous freecycler this afternoon. Its a quite neutral pinky/terracotta tiny spot pattern and is almost right size - I dont care if there are bits of underlay showing I'll use rugs. Isnt freecycle JUST the best thing????
Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the blue monstrosity out of the gloomroom and get new one down............any ideas?
